#5 | Return for Important Business / Starlight Celebrations
Characters: Sephiroth [Open]
When/Where: Aqures Ixen: 20th December
Summary: Sephiroth has returned to Aqures Ixen from serving in Esdham's military to take part in the experimentation arranged with Jessie. Although not intended to stay over the Starlight Celebration period, it seems as if he might have to, considering the instability of the military shuttles especially at this time of year.
Warnings: Mention of (uncomfortable) checking-ups, otherwise n/a for now
[OOC Info: Link #1, Link #2 and Results Log]
#1) 12-14th District: Anywhere on route
If there was one thing that Sephiroth hadn't counted on, it was how near-awkward returning to Aqures Ixen from Esdham had proven to be when it had been so easy to catch the shuttle there when he had first enlisted. Despite making it clear his intent to return and on exactly what date and for what time, the scheduling of the military shuttle -though faster in transit than the Shoopuf service- wasn't nearly as frequent, especially considering the holidays. All in all, it meant that he'd had to leave the barracks well before the winter darkness had even begun to break in order to make the earlier flight; being the only one available that would get him to his Destination before the arranged time. As a result, Sephiroth's arrival into the military airport in the 12th District was a lot earlier than would have been ideal. There was little for the returning SOLDIER to do in the meantime other than tuck his scarf around his throat and chin a little tighter, turn up the thick collar of his winter coat against the weather -it was much colder than he recalled- and break his new boots in against the snow and ice that had settled underfoot after sub-zero nights. At least it weren't that gusty, or else there would have been much more of a chill ripping through his long silver hair which was loose and cascading down and to one side of the large pack he had slung over a shoulder.
It was a long hike across the City to get back to the 14th District but however he disliked idling around Sephiroth found himself with the time to spare as he took in the as-foretold spectacularly festive setting of Aqures Ixen all lit up and decorated for the Starlight Celebrations. On more occasions than he would perhaps later admit to, his pace would slow, the cold forgotten for just a moment or two. Observing as many citizens gathered around one of the decorated trees and started to sing spontaneously among themselves a carol that he had heard his comrades in arms grunting with on occasion in the barracks, or turning to see a Santa Claus’ he passed that was helping to bring a little bit of brightness to the poorest children - all of these things added an ambiance to the world around that was difficult for Sephiroth to relate to. But before Spencer, the bespectacled moogle forever at his shoulder height, could utter a comment the silver haired warrior would put it to the back of his mind and carry on as if he hadn't stopped at all.
He still needed to find Angeal. His old friend hadn't answered the last couple of his letters, and to think of what might be the reason twisted a dagger of anxiety into the seasoned warriors gut. Sephiroth always did have a habit of expecting the worst and it only increased his worry when he thought about the reason for the experimentation they were to volunteer for; to see if there were any links between their states of being in this World and the likelihood of crystal stasis in the future - something Sephiroth personally had wondered long and hard over whether his own weakened state could be related. Genesis had already been through the stasis and returned older, not to mention much changed; would it be too logical now to assume that Angeal had succumbed as well? Was he the next one?
Returning to their designated house was as safe a bet as any. Spencer was quick to suggest that at least it would be warmer inside, and Sephiroth would be far more comfortable without his heavy pack and gear flung over one shoulder. He could take a hot shower, get freshened up and maybe even take some breakfast (or rather brunch, at that point) before having to head out into the snow again to get to the Laboratory on time to meet with the others.

#2) Late-Morning 7th District: Near Jessie's Laboratory
It was like butterflies, but not in a good way, that had spawned inside of Sephiroth as he neared the location in the 7th District where it had been arranged to meet. The hot bath and resulting nap he had taken at the house had both been sorely needed and as a result he did feel fresher, more focused as a result, but it was a double edged sword in it's own right. Aside from that nagging feeling in the back of his mind due to the broken routine that he'd been keeping to for weeks beforehand, it took a lot of effort on his part to keep that stirred nervous feeling well under wraps and out of his body language. If not for himself, then for the others. He needed to be fearless here no matter his own reservations with regard to the ins-and-outs of consenting for this experiment in the first place. It had been his idea and there were no question to the fact that they needed to know one way or the other regardless. It was all that he could do, but to steel his jaw now and go through with it.
He drew his own crystal out of his pocket and cupped it's smooth rounded half in the palm of his hand with the jagged parts of the other half -almost like the trail of a comet- facing outwards as he inspected it thoughtfully whilst waiting for the others to arrive. It had been a blue color ever since that night in the clearing a few months ago, but before that it had always been red. Sephiroth pondered on the reason for that - indeed there was a lot that Jessie may or may not be able to reveal to them as a result of this voluntary examination. Not that it did anything to calm nerves, considering how such things back home had always been a too-frequent annoyance to him even if they had been important to undergo. It had all just been part of how he was different from others.
