Par for the course, it might well have been a dismissal. Sephiroth always had hidden behind an indomitable wall put up between himself and others. His time in Crystallis so far hadn't done much to change that. He was only just -barely- talking once more to the two individuals that had made him that much more defensive, not that it hadn't been hard to get him to open up in the first place.

However lame Ramza sounded, it was a comment Sephiroth had put no effort at all into deserving and for that reason he turned his head more towards the other man and looked over him again, in more detail. Not quite suspiciously but close enough.

"I did-" He took a breath, shakier than he would like, and let it out slowly. Cooling his mood further before trying to put together an answer that wouldn't seem as short. "-nothing more than anyone else might have done. Or I'd like to think so."
