"The airport was lost to fire and is currently undergoing repairs. It will take at least another month before it's operational again. That was the worst of the damages, however -- the coliseum and the Mognet Office were secured in time to keep the fires from spreading, and most of the civilians survived. A group of Heroes managed to thwart the attempt on the President's life, and he was escorted to safety."
He leaned back in his chair. "We are still dealing with the injured, but all in all, it could have gone much worse. Esdham knows how to keep functioning during wartime, that much is clear."
One had to wonder -- why had the Empire attacked so brazenly? Even with all their strength, they must have realized that a full-frontal attack on enemy territory would cost them more resources than the defense would cost Esdham. Had they been counting on the President's death and willing to pay the price, or was it something else...?
The dream from three nights before tugged at his mind, but he wasn't ready to draw conclusions yet.
