wear_tear_rust: (It's all in the tone.)

The drive to change what mistakes he made was a long and difficult journey. There was no such thing, even in dreams, as a magic cure for anything. He did what he felt was the right thing to do and he was swept along the tide. Sephiroth's words hurt but they were true. The deeper meaning was if Sephiroth was in pain and he had caused his friend's suffering, then he was truly a monster and an enemy.

It hurt to think about. He didn't want to answer the question Sephiroth presented. He lifted his head but he hadn't turned yet to face Sephiroth. With a deep breath, he forced himself to think.

"I don't know. I'm tired of roles." Angeal's tone was equally as flat, but mostly out of empathy than his own. He was caught in the middle and tried his best to right his wrongs but suffering still happened because he wasn't strong enough to stand on his own in the wake of confusion. In return, he repaid Sephiroth's open hand with a spike.

He didn't dare call Sephiroth friend. He was risking plenty as it were. Angeal wouldn't blame him at all if Sephiroth never wanted to speak to him again. "I was foolish." Angeal's eyes closed again and this time, he didn't move.

He hurt a lot of people and knew his actions did more than just betray a few people. He needed time and it was clear that so did Sephiroth. He didn't want to leave yet he didn't want to stay either. He was conflicted yet again how he should handle this situation. Was this how it was going to be between them?

The pain in his feet was small compared to what he had put his friend through, if Sephiroth even considered him such anymore. He wouldn't blame him. In fact, he half expected to be told to leave Sephiroth's sight and never come back.
