"I dunno. I'm honestly not sure. I mean, there used to be samurai and swordsmen and stuff, but it was ages ago. There's still tons of stories about 'em, but most of it is just that. Stories. Wherever you're from sounds way more interesting and action-packed than where I'm from."

After the last few months of his life, Kaiji was no longer a big believer in the existence of heroes anywhere in modern times. Makoto would most likely be disappointed in the story behind Kaiji's scars.
