The cave isn't filled with crystals, but made of crystal. There is no light indicating where the exit might be, but the crystals provide enough light to see clearly. In the distance there are various Heroes of Light in Crystal Stasis, some of them that are just around, but there are others who seem to be a part of the cave's walls itself.
Upon defeating the Calamity Spawn, it will glow red and slowly fade out of existence. An unnatural, nearly ethereal scream heard in the distance reveals the purpose to weaken the Calamity should be accomplished with that done… Or so it seems.
