Pity. The word snaps Richard from his daze and he presses a trembling hand to the wound in his side. Strange how he feels so empty, and yet anger is the first emotion he manages to grasp hold of. It's easier, perhaps, than letting himself be consumed in his own grief. They've watched so many of their comrades fall.. Despite their vows of friendship and the countless efforts to find a brighter future for this world, it has all come to this moment.
Richard's vision strays across the broken forms scattering the floor. To Asbel crumpled at his feet and to Sophie's pale, still features mere strides away. At least...they had gone quickly. But they are still gone; the two people most precious in his life are dead. He couldn't protect them, and now there is nothing...
That's not true! Don't give up, Richard!
The thought pains him. Even at the end, his dearest friends had not given up hope. They had not wavered in their determination in the slightest. His remaining companions, it seems, are not about to give up either.
Richard lifts his head, addressing Yunalesca. "I hold no pity for those who have perished today. They fought because they believed that this world could still be saved, and they died defending that belief. If you truly wished to spare anyone from sorrow and pain, you could aid us in seeing their final wish through. Garland must be stopped."
