Thancred struggled to his feet, a dagger in one hand, his other pressed against the greatest of his wounds. It could not keep the inevitable at bay forever, he knew that- and he closed his eyes for a moment to avoid having to look again, to focus on the task at hand.
"Such persistence ought to be rewarded! Sadly, now doesn't seem to be the time, really." He steadied himself, balanced to move, and nodded towards the path Garland had taken. "I'd still like to say we can give this place a chance, but I won't admit it doesn't look like a rough ride." All the more reason to try. At least they could go down fighting.
