Greg paid no mind that his candy trail was being picked up. He saw her and he just assumed that she liked candy. Even knowing that she was picking it up he continued to put the candy down and at one point when Kite wasn't paying attention he put a piece on the moogle as well.

"Must you do this kupo?"

"I'm not Kupo. I'm Greg!" He stopped looking up at his moogle with a smile. Kobato will easily catch up to them and finally find what's at the end of the candy trail.
