Even if they don't distrust us, I doubt they'd want amateurs messing around with valuable equipment unsupervised. I wouldn't count on any privacy.

[Surely they would have some scientists around, at the very least. Engineers, perhaps. To say nothing of the staff required to maintain a large facility...]
