Lots of people had wanted to be her friend; though in many cases, it was because being Nanami's enemy wasn't worth considering. "But, I'm not any of that here." Lydia could probably see Nanami's mood change at that. Beneath Nanami's ego is the fear she has nothing to offer as a friend, far closer to the surface than many popular girls because she'd had to confront it.
