The fact that Sephiroth had been out with a busted leg at the time certainly prevented much of that blame from being placed on him if anyone might have thought to point the finger. Then again, he made no secret of the fact he thought it was a bad idea at the time. His expression falls just a little more serious as a result; he didn't blame the rescue attempt itself, though some facts were blindingly obvious.

"Right. Considering the en-mass presence of so many Heroes near to the Calamity like that undoubtedly enabled Kalki to unleash it." Though Sephiroth reigns his rising temper back in then, identified before it might cause him to say something in a way that he might regret to Lydia.

"And the Heran Empire is directly in it's path of expansion. I doubt that Kalki had to try very hard to persuade them to up their offensive measures."

Feeling a little deflated in the wake of letting that off his chest, Sephiroth shook his head in his own attempt to get himself to stop chewing at that old bone. Such thoughts were like sticky glue agitated all anew at the slightest mention though.

"You're right though, there isn't much point arguing the facts at this stage. I only meant that the Empire has been pushing at the gates of Esdham for a long while, well before we even arrived here."
