The Turk didn't step any further away from the spectre of Kyo, only slowly turned his head to look at Yuki as if in a daze. His eyes were pained and confused.
"Yuki...?" he murmured, as if he wasn't sure. As if he didn't know why he should be stopped. Because... because it was Kyo, and he had to help Kyo. He had to at least try. What kind of asshole lover would he be if he didn't? It didn't even occur to him that it "didn't matter" here, that this Kyo wasn't his Kyo, that whatever he did would not be recognized by that Kyo.
Because it was still Kyo -- whom he loved. And as inconvenient as it was, he couldn't turn it off.
"But... but we have to -- " All the while, Kyo lumbered closer, close enough to interrupt Reno's protest with a jagged slash to the Turk's chest. Reno cried out in pain and lurched back, instinctively covering the wound -- but Yuki could see, through the smoking tear in Reno's clothing, straight through to his skin. Straight through to the tattoo over his heart of a cat and a dog, heads bowed in a heart.
