Event || The Night of the Thirteen Moogles

Characters: Everyone!
Where: Aqures Ixen (Old Observatory, others).
When: Night from the 31st of October to the 01st of November.
Summary: Midnight is approaching, ghosts are everywhere and clouds are slowly gathering above the old observatory... What does it all mean? This post is open to all characters, there are no sign-ups for this.
Warning: The destructor has come.

Zelda looked behind her as Meteor spoke, her lips curling into a warm smile at the familiar tone. Unlike him Zelda didn’t look ready for battle. She wore a light blue dress which matched the shade of her eyes and a light brown coat that kept the harsh wind at bay. Her current jobs were support jobs which meant that she’d be towards the back of the fight anyway.

“I’m feeling better thank you.” Better was a relative term but she didn’t want him to worry. “Do you need anything?” She had some potions down stairs that she had kept in case they were needed.

As she spoke her loftwing hopped closer, the large bird trying to wrap around Zelda’s petite form. She wasn’t so convinced that her rider was really feeling alright after witnessing her crying moments before. Though Zelda was determined, this wasn’t the time to focus on worries. There was a battle looming just over head.

"Pray, I was worried a little but I am glad you are here. A couple of hi-potions would be preferable," he said. "I might have misplaced mine in a hurry."

"Are you worried?" he asked softly. "Tis a place of danger right now."

Zelda nodded and then gestured for Meteor to follow her. It was only her bird her stopped her from avoiding his question. The loftwing moved around Zelda stopping her from walking down the stairs to where she kept the extra supplies.

"Ah, well. The potions are just down stairs." She looked at her loftwing putting a hand on her side. There was a silent conversation that quickly pass between them before Zelda turned towards Meteor. She was smiling though it was more real this time. She was happy that he was there and worried about her.

"I am, a little. We've built this place into a home. I always wanted it to my a symbol of hope for the heroes and now its becoming a battle field." She sighed softly her head falling to the side while cascades of gold fall over her shoulder. She's put all of her energy and time into this building and into the heroes. This was her home.

"A battle field that you can't avoid becoming one, I see." said Meteor as he stepped down the stairs next to Zelda.

"I am sorry, it had to be this way. If it weren't for the accursed beings taking this place for their own, I would have driven them out faster."

"Is there anything I can do?"

Zelda shook her head looking up at Meteor with a smile. “It isn’t your fault and I’ll be ready for whatever happens.” Her gaze softens slightly at his offer. “Just being there does a lot. Thank you Meteor.”

She turned towards her loftwing who seemed determined to stop her from going down stairs. The large bird wouldn’t be able to follow and it didn’t seem keen with leaving Zelda’s side. She gently patted the birds beak, her gaze loving as she spoke.

“You stay. I’ll be right back, I’m just grabbing something.”

The bird took a step back from Zelda, with a shake of its head. She wasn’t happy with letting the young goddess go but she knows Zelda’s words to be true.

She looked up at Meteor again, feeling even shorter since she was a few steps below him. “It’s just down stairs.” With that she began descending the winding staircase.

Following behind, Meteor looked out a nearby window at the darkening skies. "A storm is coming, and I feel like there is something to be said about the nature of the nervous tension in the air."

Perhaps it could be said he was nervous as well, wringing his hands a little.

Zelda nodded, "That's probably why my loftwing is so nervous." She looked back at Meteor, her hair falling behind her in silky golden waves.

"Are you feeling unease? Can I help?" She felt nervous too but if she could help Meteor in some way then that might make her feel better too.

"This unease is... just familiar," said Meteor finally admitting it. "Like something similar in my world is about to happen. A sort of coming tension which is like a knife's edge, waiting to snap."

"I pray we might not be facing something unworldly."

"We should expect anything." Zelda couldn't say what might come but she's used for the worse. As she headed down the stairs her fingers idly traced the invisible scar she had from the year before.

"Last year they took heroes and controlled them. They used a dark crystal to try and summon this king mog."

"King Mog? As in MOGGLE MOG? The XIV?" Exclaimed Meteor, his eyes growing wide. "They intended to invoke a godsdamned primal into our midst? Tis madness!"

"The damage alone from tempering... is neigh irreversible..."

Zelda stopped even though the end of the stairs were in sight. "You know him? He's a legend here as well." She looked more than a little concerned.

"Maybe I should grab my journal and tell you everything that happened then..." There was one piece of information in that journal she suddenly felt uncomfortable sharing but if it was Meteor she supposed it would be okay.

She trusted him.

"Let me get that too." She quickly ran down the last few stairs, first grabbing the Hi-Potions that she had and then her journal. She flipped open to the correct page and then handed it to him.

Taking the journal, he started to read. A flurry of emotions passed through his expression; frustration, sadness, rage, and in the end he thudded his fist against the wall. "Ascians... even here your taint is felt. Even if this isn't the same method, the Ascian summoning method is still dangerous and deadly."

He looked up at Zelda and passed her journal back to her. "I am truly sorry. If only I was here last year, I could stop Moggle Mog from rising. Some Primal Slayer I am..."

Zelda took the book from his hands and held it to her chest. The ritual itself involved the black crystal and the black mage moogle performing the summoning. With the tainted heroes to protect him. It was a dark night.

She shook her head slightly, a small smile pulling at her lips. She was glad that he hadn't mentioned the part about her in the journal. As midnight drew closer she felt the center of her collar bone itch but she knew it was all in her mind.

"It isn't your fault." Her voice was soft as she tried to sooth him. "We were able to stop the summoning then."

"But... this is what I fight. This is my purpose..." He bowed his head in sadness, biting his lip.

"Zelda I... These dark tidings are exactly what happens in my world. The Ascians, beings of Darkness possess others to create thralls in their ways. They summon the primal gods, in order to bond slaves and disrupt the world. How can I sit by, knowing this is happening here too?"

Zelda moved a step closer, setting the book to the side before resting her palm on Meteor's forearm. Her lips curl into a gentle smile as she looked up at him. Her blue eyes confident, affirming that everything she was going to say was true.

"You're here now and I know you are going to do great. He wasn't summoned before and we haven't faced a primal god yet. Maybe that's why you are here now because we need you." Her head tilted to the side, her smiling widening.

"You can't change the past but we can improve the future."

Resting his hand on Zelda's, Meteor nodded. "Thank you. I know... it will be rough, but I will hope for the best."

"A smile suits a hero better, right?" he added, managing a gentle smile.

"It definately looks better on you." She smiled brightly up at Meteor, leaving her hand against his.

"But if you want to be worried or angry that's okay too because we those are gone you'll be able to smile."

"All right. That sounds like a good plan." He smiled at Zelda as he squeezed her hand gently for a brief moment.

"Thank you. And thank you for the hi potions, Zelda. I will put them to good use."

Zelda reluctantly dropped her hand from his shoulder, her smile staying in place. "I'm glad. Oh!" She turned to pick up the Hi-potions and return the journal to it's place.

"Here."

She hadn't actually gave them to him, there was only two but she hoped it might help him be a hero.

"Thank you." Taking the potions, he tucked them into his belt pouch.

"The day grows late, and the hour ahead of us. We should prepare for the next hour upon us."

Zelda nodded. "Perhaps with you here my loftwing will fly to safety." She knew the bird was finicky at times and it didn't want to leave Zelda alone.

She headed towards the long staircase again feeling a little more awkward as she ascended the spiral case.
