Summary: Midnight is approaching, ghosts are everywhere and clouds are slowly gathering above the old observatory... What does it all mean? This post is open to all characters, there are no sign-ups for this.

[ He always had this eerie calmness in the face of danger and death itself (even before the idea that many Heroes don't stay fallen) but this to him was a non-issue. It was company that is likelier to throw him off; in this case company that wasn't feeling like themselves. Or maybe he didn't have the right to say that. Battle requires some sharp shifting of gears... And maybe admittedly he should be taking a more prepared stance to fight back; instead of letting things come as they may just because it didn't look very promising.

He nods without a word, and begins to Focus and make his next spell stronger. He hadn't expected it to come to this--but now that he had someone beside him, he had to make sure they both make it out of this alive. ]

[ The Shifter noticed the lack of effect of its words, and so said nothing more for the time being, continuing on in a warped-sounding giggle that echoed against their surroundings. It seemed to think multiplying its limbs into nine extended bony arms and long fingers would make it the more convenient to grab its snacks: the original target and newcomer both. As clumps of stringy hair shed off to dissolve into the floor, large eyes opened from multiple directions around the head from what used to at least give a convincing illusion of a normal face. While gaming fight logic would dictate this as an addition of weak points, it would also be exponentially more difficult to find a blind spot, this way. All eyes, when they could, watched them intently and unwavering. ]
