Mooglehunt
Characters: James Kidd (Mary Read) and the Heroes she's approached about her Assassin's Guild
Where: Trano Golsaucia
When: Begins November 6th and hopefully ends by the 9th
Summary: The information that Mary has gathered has lead her to believe that the fugitive moogle Artemicion has been spotted in Trano Golsaucia. She's decided to take a small group to take him in herself.
OOC notes: This log is semi closed to people who Kidd has had CR with. However the first prompt will be open and if you want to try to come on board please contact me via plurk or message. Even so, she wants to keep party size limited so to not spook her quarry. OOC post here: link
Largely this will be a first proper mission for her guild's pc trainee's. Information on the Artimicion will be supplied by the mods as they're able to help us out. Beyond that this is sneakytime fun. I'll handle any npcs that we interact with. I believe the best way to do it would be for each player to pick which location and date they will be searching an area during the trip, covering the 7th and 8th. On the 9th a move will be made and hopefully the moogle will be captured.

On the 5th, letters go out to a few particular Heroes, and not through the normal Mognet channels. Instead they are dropped off quickly and quietly, though a keen eye may still spot the hooded moogle jumping from hiding place to perching point as she goes about her deliveries.
The letter reads:
Dear Friends,
Ever since the vanishing of Palitutu I have been reaching out to various contacts that I could make around the world, trying to find out what I can about her movements. While the Tarutaru has remained elusive, there seem to have been sightings of a particular moogle that I would like to investigate and I'd appreciate your assistance.
Please meet me at the Eagle Eye pub tomorrow so that we may discuss matters.
Yours,
James Kidd

"There might be one on each continent," Ales added. "In my world, we tend to hide important artifacts in different environments. But if you're right, then we have to start looking for them as fast as we can. If Yuffie's right, we can find four to combat her one weapon."
It was disheartening news, but at the same time, it gave them an opportunity to stop her.

She will keep tabs on damage control concerning the police. Chances are she might get a slap on the wrist for going outside her jurisdiction, but she could handle it.
"The problem with that is trying to figure out where they are on those continents. On top of that, chances are that they'll be heavily guarded. If they're having a hard time locating this Diamond Weapon, information about it won't be in any sort of easily accessible book. I wouldn't be surprised if Palitutu took any materials about the weapons with her. "

"...Can we trust this information to be what it claims?" she remarked. "I do not know what these 'Weapons' are, but if I were to hazard a guess, this information was intentionally left to fall into our hands." She shook her head. "Heroes have more freedom and liberty to move about and explore. She does not have this luxury. We may become her personal search party, uncovering the weapon for her. Who is to say she will not arrive when the weapon is found, and threaten to wipe out another city unless we give her the weapon? What answer could we give?"

What was it with ancient races leaving weapons and devices of destruction and control laying around? "At home we have something similar. Pieces of Eden. Precursor Artifacts. Devices and objects of great power capable of killing people or influencing their minds and actions. As tempting as their power is, as much good as you say you may be able to do with them, they are best buried and destroyed."
She looked around the table and gave Ales a nod, "I agree that we should find them as quickly as we can. I will be depending on you Ales to help me travel between Aqures Ixen and Aerilon to keep my Bureau going. It may be about time to open one in Aqures Ixen as well."
She looked around at the gathered folk again. She couldn't run this alone. She needed to take on other members. Initiates. And there were some excellent candidates at this table.
"We should tell some of our fellow Heroes about this but there is no need to panic everyone with the information. At least not until we have something more. Look into this on your own and fill in those who have the means to follow through on this. Marshall Nevada and those in the Esdham Military should certainly be alerted." Saori was probably right that Palitutu likely destroyed whatever she could of the trail left behind. They'd have to keep their eyes and ears open but there was nothing to go on yet. Blindly scouring the region the letter mentioned as a mass group would only help their enemies.

This needed to be approached from a different angle, but she didn't think any of the others would listen to her suggestions. In fact, she was sure of it.
"I do not think it is wise to alert a military as to the location of a super weapon," she shook her head. "But do as you will."
She pushed away from the wall, dropping her arms to her sides. "My boat leaves tonight. I must be on it. Good night and farewell." With a polite nod, she skirted past the table and headed out the door.

"She does have a point: Palitutu might be counting on us to find those machines for her, but we can't sit back and hope she doesn't come across them herself. I say that we prepare in the event that Palitutu shows up and claims the weapons for her own."
