"i learned to -- practice smiling when i'm feeling sad, you know?"
Characters Yuna & OPEN.
Where Residential block → Hospital → Crystal of Fire
When Baaackdated to around the time of post-rescue. Prompts range from morning to late night!
Summary A solid attempt by the summoner to get back to everyday Aqures Ixen life.
Warnings None yet.
RESIDENTIAL BLOCK.
The crisp morning air felt nice, and Yuna drew in a deep breath as she closed her eyes, taking a little joy in knowing spring was almost in full effect. Besaid didn't have much for seasons, but the change going over the lands was welcome and rejuvenating, as though it was getting a new beginning again -- something she could relate to.
Momo had rejoined his hero the moment there was word that she had returned, his usual energetic demeanour was muted, and he walked by the mage's side rather than flying for once, casting worried glances upwards, as they continued towards the hospital in silence. Yuna held her head high, her hands clasped in front of her loosely as she looked forward, focused on a world millions of miles away, rather than the one she walked in.
HOSPITAL.
Everything was almost exactly as she left it. The files and reports, the medicines and potions... even the compresses and braces, everything had been well taken care of. Aside from herself she was aware that others worked here but the nurses station had become her own sort of home base, and the helper moogles had taken such good care of everything in her absence...
The way some things were placed, she looked on with a smile, knowing that Momolumi had likely done his part to make sure that everything was placed exactly the way she would have done it as well. It was a warm feeling, a nice one, small gestures could mean everything when you felt like you were thrown off your feet.
She made her rounds just like always, glad to see that there didn't seem to be any current patients of the heroic variety. The hallways were quiet but for the workers that moved things about, wheeling carts of laundry, mops being swished across the ground. Before long, she found herself in front of one of the stasis rooms. Packed with those that had disappeared from this world, encased in cold crystal... There would be new victims, she was sure but... maybe there were some that had survived? Like Snow... Taking a deep breath, she pressed forward, gripping her clipboard in hand as she stepped inside the room, searching the frozen faces to see how time had assessed their fate.
CRYSTAL OF FIRE.
It was hours later than she had said she would be home. Whether she had lost herself in her work purposefully or by accident was anyone's guess, but her pace was slowed and it seemed like she was in no hurry. The events of the day had helped to keep her mind off of the things she had learned and seen in her time as a prisoner of the Empire, but... try as she might, they always crept back up once the world around her went quiet.
Yuna held her crystal in her hand, her steps coming to a heel, just a few inches from the Crystal of Fire. She didn't know why she had come here, and she didn't know why she gazed intently at the purple of her own, then the red of the elemental gems in front of her.
In the war, it had been about crystals, too. Obtain your crystal, receive the power... In the forest of Aqures Ixen, the crystals had been black, poisoned, tainted... like the one they had given Rikku that horrible day... there were even people that had turned to crystal! And now, the one in her hands had started to change colour... once a vibrant red, it was darkened, turning a purpleish-blue. All these crystals -- what did it all mean...?

"Everyone that was there... I don't think any one of us blamed anyone else for what happened. It was our fault, we knew the risks going into the battle that something could happen..." she paused, closing her eyes for a moment.
"Yuffie... is really very strong, you know? Stronger than she realizes, I think. Sometimes she can do or say things that might make it look as though she doesn't care what other people think but... that's what makes her Yuffie, right?" she looked up, forcing a smile. "I think the best thing you could do for her... is just letting her know that you're there for her."

"Maybe, but it took us a while to get there to save you." It's something that Luffy would later cause a lot of trouble over. Even if Yuna and Yuffie and Rikku didn't blame them, the pirate boy eventually would.
"I'll do my best. It's just weird that she knows me from my future but...I trust her when she says that we will be friends. She's a bit of a pain but I know she's good deep down." Cloud sighed and got down to the ground, taking a seat and looking up at the sky as it hung over the crystal.
"I wonder what's going to happen next. There's a lot of...not quite questions in my head? I want to know a lot, but I don't have the words for it. Why we were all brought here is a big one. And I'm not sure if Jessie and the others know anything."
He looked back to Yuna. "Did you hear anything while you were over there? Any hints?"
no subject
"I think... I know how you feel," although Rikku shared the same memories as she did within the realm of their homeworld, so many things had been happening that hinted at Yuna's future, which had been unsettling from the day she'd laid eyes on her older self. "But things will work themselves out... I hope."
Her eyes flicked to the right as she took in a breath. The things that she had lived through, seen, and heard as she was the Empire's captive had been anywhere from useless to cruel. Fighting Rikku to the death, watching as Bahamut writhed in pain by fault of her command... "Nothing -- that would be of any help, I'm afraid."

"If you...you or any of the others...if you ever need help with anything just let me know, okay?" He smiles weakly, wanting to help somehow, though if he was truthful it has more to do with his own feeling of guilt.

She couldn't imagine asking the heroes to do any more than they had already done for her sake... "Um. I should be going. It's late. It was... nice to see you again," she repeated her earlier sentiments, with a slight bow of her head.
