May 12th, bro!
The opportunity happened to come today, so with Mograe at his side like usual, Ven set out in the afternoon for the smithy in question. The place wasn't at all hard to find with her guidance, and before long they both entered the shop, Ven wearing his Keyblade on his back for what he still hoped would be temporarily. Inside, he didn't hide his curiosity as he scanned the interior.
"Uh, hi? Anyone here?"
Re: May 12th, bro!
Naw man, we're open. Watcha need?" he asks looking him over, then noticing the strangely shaped mace on his back.
Wait, no, that's the handle, the other end of it... some sort of axe? "Dude, the heck is that thing?"
no subject
"Oh. This? It's my weapon," he replies, one eyebrow rising curiously. It doesn't look that outlandish, does it? "It's called a Keyblade." He doesn't make any move to present it, although his poise still remains relaxed and casual. Then, to return some teasing for that joke just now, he adds with another grin, "Hey, I thought a blacksmith would have seen all kinds of weapons."
no subject
Sound familiar?
"I used to fix em so... stuff like this isn't really all that normal to me so... I still see a lot of new things that people want to have from back home. You're lucky as hell to already have that. I didn't get anything..." He has something but it doesn't work.
"So, if you've got that, watcha need me for? Sharpening it?"
no subject
Pardon the sheltered child. He doesn't have a lot of memories compared to how long he's actually been alive, and the nature of smithies and natural weapon care isn't among them.
He shakes his head. "No, I figure I can use it with my Red Mage class fine, but it's the other one I'm thinking about. Your flyer mentioned that you make spears, right?"
no subject
"Yeah, I do spears." MarKus gives a push on his shoulder to get him to turn; not a shove, but a guiding nudge as well as the presentation of his arm. Fancier, flashier, crazy-style spears are on the wall; stuff that looks more for show than for practicality, then there's a couple of barrels with spears, lances, and javelins; everyday stuff, and easily replaceable since the shaft is more likely to snap than the metal of a sword. (Not to mention filling orders for Aqures Ixen's own military force).
"I got basic shit, I can do complicated designs, and I just started doing Elementals as well.", A misleading term considering the creatures outdoors.
no subject
He knows about that concept, but the thought of needing to sharpen a sword periodically manages to throw him. Go figure.
no subject
"I figured out the secret last month. It'll cost a little more but... it's worth it."
Most people didn't sharpen their own swords... they'd come back here, or... buy a better, customized, weapon.
no subject
Surely not.
He reaches back over his shoulder to pull his Keyblade free and hold it out, this time openly presenting it in all its crazy glory. "Could you style a spear after this? Not exactly, obviously, but something close." It could only help, right? Losing his bond to his Keyblade was already strange and even disorienting enough; if he had to use an entirely different weapon now and again, the familiarity could at least ease the transition. "And... which elements can you add?"
no subject
"So you want a halberd? Yeah I can do that, and you want it to look like that too? I'll have to draw it for a minute, but I'm sure I can put that." he points at the 'axe' end of things, "And put it on that." and he points to one of the spears he's made n his time.
"For now, i> can only do fire, ice, and lightening. Now if you find a crystal that has something else with it, like water or holy or whatever, then I can work with that. It's just a matter of stock. You bring me more, I can do more." Hint hint... but that means go be a thief!
no subject
"Crystals, huh?" He glances back at Mograe, who nods.
"It's like he says, kupo. They're not easy to get, but they're out there, kupo."
"Hm." It's a thoughtful sound, but Ven nods. "In that case, I'll hold off on the element for now." He can -- or could -- use all the spell elements (with darkness being the only exception), but ice is a tricky one to master and it might not be best to tie it into a new weapon. Fire and lightning are pretty good, but if he has the choice, wind or light would be preferable. For now, he can wait.
He gives his Keyblade an easy spin to reverse his grip, setting its tip on the floor so that it's down and out of the way. "So what do I owe you for this -- uh..." He hesitates, realizing he never did get the guy's first name.
no subject
"Well, I'd have had to charge you for something if you wanted an element, but, if it's just the halberd, you get one freebie for being new here." But that means you're getting plain-ass Steel. "Of course, there's room for improvement if you want better metals or elements involved. My quantity of silver and gold isn't the biggest... unfortunately." Eternally annoyed at the lack of exotic materials.
"So it's not like it's a business plan that makes me lose money. You'll be back!" But until then, he's unrolling some parchment and taking sketches of the nasty end of the keyblade.
