With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

[ Tear nods in turn, now eyeing the cane she was twirling in her hands. ]

And I'm glad you've all been so accommodating throughout all of it. Though, I'm afraid I don't know your name...?

Depowered goddess: 1, Pirate/Assassin: 0, but who's keeping score? Saori might have caught a glimpse of Mary retreating but made no comment and smiled instead. When she did come back, she smiled and brushed a lock of hair behind her ear.

"I'm glad it all worked out, but we couldn't have done it without everyone's help. I never did properly thank you for all the lifts you gave me and dealing with my animals and Brigid. At least not yet anyway." Let's just say Saori had it with mistletoe after Brigid tried one to many times using it to put her in an awkward spot.

To be honest, she still hadn't exactly picked out Mary's gift despite how close it was to the holiday. Normally she wouldn't have let it slip but she was busy and just hit a wall when it was her turn.

[her eyebrows rise, showing her surprise at the suggestion, but after a moment she nods, settling herself down to take shoes and socks off.]

Let's try it, then.

[and she holds the socks out, a little wistfully.]

[Chiaki sits down next to her to remove K'pandolu's shoes before taking the socks from her.]

I'll take good care of them.

[Leaning down, she stuffs them into the shoes before putting them back on.]

There.

[She wiggles her toes inside the shoes a bit, to see how they fit now.]

Even just organizing papers will help. You need to focus on what you can do… not what you can’t.

[She'd understand that, but surely there ought to be someone Zelda could trust with those doubts. Still- perhaps it's not the time.

K'pandolu's ear flicks once, but that might simply be to Zelda's next statement, in any case.]

Of course! I should say that constitutes much of my work as a goldsmith. [besides, smelting the metal, and if the Thaumaturge's Guild have a sudden need for staves…] Did you have some reason for asking that? [she tilts her head, ears up, smiling.]

Their paths might not have crossed that much, but Saki was still impressed by the other moogle, wings fluttering at the compliment as she accepted the cane.

"It's good you could make them all in time, then!" she exclaimed.

K'pandolu nodded, looking at the candy curiously for a moment. "I hadn't realised moogles were susceptible to such itches," she said, ears twitching forward as she considered Bonnie. "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on her."

Saki made a small sound, biting off a little part of her cane. "Kupo- you don't have to! Not at all! That's my job!"

K'pandolu chuckled, eyes bright, turning her head to offer a nod to the woman approaching them.

[Mary's face sinks at the question, making the answer clear.]

Not as I would have liked. We nearly had our quarry, and it would have been easier to capture him than I worried, but then he became alerted to our presence and ran. By the time we caught him he must have found a way to signal for help, and this was after blocking our Job powers.

[Her eyes narrow and her tone lowers.]

Palitutu showed up and threatened to bring the Ultima Weapon to bear upon the city. We had to let him go. Also, it seems that there's more to this Weapon than we knew before. I've left the information in the report.

[She sighs and looks around. She doesn't want to ruin the party mood any more than she has.]

Ah! I'm Bonnie! It's nice to meet you, kupo~ I'm Mary's moogle, kupo.

[She tugs on her cloth hood as she mentions the name of her Hero, smiling a prideful little smile.]

[ Rather than her words, it's her immediate reaction that slightly confuses the cadet, for the unfortunate implication manages to go over his head... like most such things normally do. ]

... Okay, Bulma. My name is Ace, and it's nice to meet you.

[ The boy nods encouragingly. Not the handshake type of person, is she? That's fine, too - in fact, he's going to follow in her footsteps and place his own hands at his sides. ]

I have been summoned here, yes. [ While there are plenty of conflicting feelings still lingering in the back of his mind, he's moved on from outright rebelling against the Crystal's call to seeing his mission in a slightly different light. There was a reason behind it all. ] My Moogle should be floating somewhere around, probably making sure that everyone can hear her.

[Sparks's expression flattens as he snaps the report closed.]

Blockin' Job powers, huh. Just like Kalki could do. 'N Palitutu, huh. No luck with her gettin' eaten alive by her own Weapon or anything yet. Too bad.

So yer sayin' that the Weapon is more that just a living, breathing weapon of mass destruction?

I'm saying that it wasn't the only one. We don't know much; just where they think it is and that they haven't found it yet.

A bemused smile spread across Reno's face, though it grew more comfortable by the moment as he took her in.

"It suddenly just got a lot more interesting," he confessed as he paused for a drink. "So -- what should I call you like this?"

A woman masquerading as a man... or, he supposed, there was still a chance it was an especially beautiful man. No real way to be sure about anything besides coming right out and asking -- and most people found that rude. But he was glad he'd come to the party now.

[Of course she takes a moment to eye him over, considering she last found him with an injured arm. An eyebrow lifts in an unspoken question - That coat? Really? - before her smile pulls into a grimace.]

More or less. Though life keeps trying to remind me that I've got the shittiest luck known to mankind. [Leaning in towards him, she lowers her voice as she speaks.] I'm living in the same house as Sephiroth.

[Well, this was unusual. Another Gaian - Yuffie, the ninja - in the city. Just how many of them were wandering around this world anyway? Not to be rude, she returns the wave andd waits for the girl to amble over.]

[Yuffie's look was certainly more risque than she would have imagined her wearing, but it was a look that was quite flattering. It made the young woman appear more mature - which was a feat in and of itself.]

I'm hardly one to miss an opportunity to see just who all the Heroes are. [Oh yes, she heard that hint of familiarity and saw that smile. And Elena could play that game as well.] I have to say, you look very nice. So nice that it looks like the bartender didn't hesitate to give you wine instead of carding you.

[Unnerving is right. She's only see Cloud smile a few times prior to arriving here, all of which were muted, demure, and self-depreciating. This was something wholly different - and not all that bad. Once she could get used to it.]

I'll pass. I look better in blue than in red.

[When the bag is pulled away, Elena pouts. And then, realizing that she was, quickly corrected her expression to cool interest.]

[Its clear by her mispronunciation that there is no such thing back in her world. And if that wasn't enough of a clue, the questioning expression about the offered food would say it all.]

Is that thing really edible?

[Really, she was going to have to work harder to get Yuna to react. Or, perhaps, it was a sign - and a good one - of the friendship bond they've built.]

Its a very nice thing to do for all the Heroes. With the added pressure to be this world's saviors, it's refreshing to take a moment to relax and enjoy the holiday.

[At Yuna's question, her eyes shift over to the woman at her side. Her thoughts instantly go to Sephiroth, but he hesitates to go there. Besides, she didn't know if Yuna knew they were roommates and she certainly wasn't about to share that information here. They were supposed to be having fun, weren't they.]

I can't complain. Still trying to get the lay of the land. Oh! But I did come across Reno, so that's a plus. I'm making sure I don't make the same mistakes as I did last time with him. And you?

Something small to keep you warm this winter. And a thanks for all you've been doing as a Hero and for this Village.

[Inside the box is a simple scarf. Nothing terribly personalized since he doesn't know Jade that well, but Cloud did make a point of making sure everyone would get something at least.]

Right now maybe. This is just the bright side of hope. But we don't just need it in happy times. We both know that.

[He looks around, beaming at the crowd of gathered Heroes. Everyone is happy and enjoying themselves and enjoying an evening of warm cheer in the otherwise cold dark winter night.

Cloud's face darkens, his voice going down a bit so only Sephiroth can hear him.]

I don't think either of us are looking forward to getting back to fighting. But we both know it will happen. This isn't the same as back home, but people are going to look to you for guidance. All of us really, but...well...no matter what world you're in you still stand out.
