With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

[Johnny had a rough few months before this one, but now, he's in a better mood. All you people with your Christmas Village and holiday cheer have rubbed off on him. He even managed to make enough in tips playing music at the Village that he could buy small gifts for his friends, and if he hasn't hit you up already, he has them with him tonight.

If you approach him, he'll raise his drink in greeting.]

Can't believe Christmas is almost already here. This month flew by, man.

[Bonnie smiles at the good cheer that Johnny is showing. She's heard from some people he can be grumpy, and he does look intimidating but clearly she caught him at a good time.]

[She holds out a candycane for him to take if he wants.]

[Johnny's fairly surprised from this act from a moogle. Mostly because he and his moogle helper don't get along at all and barely bother with one another. He takes the candycane with a small smile.]

Oh, uh, thanks. Y'know, just doing what I gotta do. It's nothin'.

You all do a lot for us, kupo. Ever since I heard the legend, ever since you all first started to arrive, I just thought you were so cool, kupo. I want to try to help you all as much as I can. Maybe one day I can be a Hero too, kupo.

[Bonnie must be a shock indeed, being so earnest and starry eyed.]

[Considering a lot of the other moogles probably found Johnny to be on the intimidating side, it was indeed a shock. He's not even sure what to say. It made him feel a little guilty, since he didn't really like being labeled a Hero.]

Hey, if you wanna be a Hero, you can be. You 'n the other moogles help us out a lot, and there's a lot we couldn't get done without ya.

[Bonnie grins and nods at the encouragement.]

Thank you for saying so, kupo. And we're happy to do our mognet duties for you all, even with the strikes. The only thing more satisfying than delivering a letter is receiving one, kupo.

[Reno smiled.]

Yeah.

[It was strange, but good. When Reno first arrived, he'd felt lost. Alone. He hadn't really expected that to change, but here he was with honest to gods friends. It was still a work in progress, and Reno still hurt. But Johnny had been something else.]

I, ah, got you a li'l something...

[He offered two plainly wrapped parcels -- then, as an afterthought, withheld the thicker one briefly.]

Maybe this one only take a peek at an' unwrap the rest a' the way later.

[Johnny could relate. He was glad to have people to buy gifts for this year, even if he couldn't afford much. And not that he'd admit it, but Reno, along with Yuna, he did a little more for.

Grinning, he reaches for that second gift first. He had to know what this was now. He pulled the paper apart at the seam, and turned down the corner. He could read the title on the spine from there.

He immediately laughed, genuine and mischievous at once.]

Nice. A gift for you and for me, huh?

[He's appreciative of the second gift too. Considering how much he plays, he goes through strings like mad.]

Thanks, man. I mean it. 'S always nice to know someone's thinking of ya. [He taps the book.] In more ways than one.

[From under the table he brings out a gift bag for Reno. Inside is a nice bottle of whiskey, and a pair of nice glasses to go with it.]

I figure everyone can appreciate the good stuff once in awhile.

[Reno laughed too and shrugged. When had he started feeling embarrassed and sappy? But he was happy Johnny liked it.]

Yeah, well...

[He stopped as the whiskey emerged.]

Wow.

[He hadn't really expected much of anything, but this was really nice. His face lit up to see it, and the two glasses.]

Another gift I'm more 'n happy t' share. Thanks, man.

[Johnny raised his current drink in toast of that, grinning. No, smiling. A honest smile isn't something that often comes from Johnny D'Amico.]

Then we come out even. Sounds good to me, man. Merry Christmas. Er, Starlight thing. Whatever.

[Reno likewise raised his glass with a comfortable smile.]

Merry Starlight Whatever.

[After a sip, he ventured in a low voice,] Maybe you can show me that beach house sometime?

[That smile gets coy.] Yeah? Sure thing. Might be a little better waitin' for warmer weather, but I'm up for a getaway anytime. Just say the word.

[Reno leaned closer, purely for Johnny to hear his voice. Right.]

Mm, warmer weather might be good for swimming -- which is all fine an' good. But winter brings people close to make warmth. Real close.

[Johnny locks eyes with Reno, and raises his glass slightly in toast.]

Sold. Name a time and we'll make this happen.
