Christmas Party & Cheer

With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

[Yuna looks at his drink and then resists the urge to roll her eyes. She does however smile before Jade even starts talking.]

It'd be nicer with a partner.

[She looks up at him with a smile that suggests he should ask her to dance.]

[Jade gives a good-natured chuckle at that.]

Sorry. I fear I'm not drunk enough for that just yet.

[There's your challenge for the night, Yuna. Keep him around the drinks long enough and he just might give in.]

[Yuna's grin widens.]

So I just need to hand you a few more drinks?

[It sounds like he wants her to get him drunk which will be a first for Yuna. There is a moments hesitation before she looks over at Jade again.]

It sounds like you might want to dance. [Even if it's just a little.]

Hmm... I wonder~?

[Jade's not giving a straight answer. Just smiling over his glass.]

If you're so confident, why don't you test that theory?

[Yuna’s eyebrow rose and she came back with a small tray with a few shot glasses worth of drinks.]

Let’s play a game then.

[She lightly taps one of the shot glasses.]

I’m going to ask you a question and if you lie or don’t want to answer you drink. Then you ask the same of me. [Yuna’s been hanging out at bars to much.]

[Jade raises an eyebrow, more than a little amused. They're playing games now? Oh well, no harm in it... Refusing to answer doesn't have much of a consequence when he was planning to get drinks anyway.]

Well, why not? This should be interesting.

[He gestures for her to start. Ladies first.]

[The idea is to make thinking interesting which is also why Yuna's planning to ask questions Jade doesn't want to answer.]

What was your main focus of study as a scientist?

[She's seen him around the lab and it works as if it's used to it.]

[A few seconds of silence, and Jade calmly picks up a glass and takes a drink. No fomicry stories for you today, Yuna.]

This is starting off well already. [He eyes her for a while, considering his options.]

If you could go back in time to change one thing in the past, what would it be?

[whereishe]

[Yuna thinks about his question for a moment.]

I don't think I would change anything. It's hard but things have worked out for the best.

[She takes a shot anyway.]

I felt like that answer is cheating. [She smiles.] If you could talk to one person again, anyone, who would it be?

[Jade falters a little at that question.]

...I think you can guess the answer to that. [His smile is... not sad, exactly, but perhaps wistful. Yuna did see a part of his worst memory, so the connection shouldn't be too hard to make.

Well, that doesn't really count as an answer, does it? Jade takes a shot.]

Before you came to Crystallis, did you have any particular goal in life?

[whereishe]

[At his question Yuna smiles a little wistfully and looks away. This is something she hasn't actually told anyone else.]

Before I came here I was actually trapped in another world. I had made the goal there to train and become strong to protect Spira. There would always be conflict but I found a way to always be there for my home. Of course I was stuck so I trained and I hoped. After awhile I met someone and I found another dream.

[She looks back at him with a smile.]

I want to have a family; children even. [She shrugs.] Maybe a dog.

I see.

[The answer seems personal enough that Jade doesn't try to go for any jabs. Certainly not about how the Calamity makes anyone starting a family very vulnerable to heartbreak. No doubt she already knows that.]

With all this uncertainty, I suppose it's easy to forget the value in simply wanting a normal life.

[Her turn to ask a question.]

[Yuna has never had a simple life and never thought she would which perhaps makes the thought even more appealing.]

Um...

[She lightly presses her finger to her lip.]

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?
