Christmas Party & Cheer

With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

[Reno smirked, trying to hold back a laugh.]

I dunno -- didja want me t' kiss you?

[He figured, of all people, Sparks might be safe anyway. He wasn't sure if anyone here would kiss the marshal, but maybe with enough booze. He just didn't think it was a good idea to say so. And there probably were some people around who were very... traditional with holiday festivities -- even for Sparks.]

Whoa, uh, no, that's okay. I'm all good.

[Maybe if you were an attractive lady, Reno, but no such luck. Instead, Sparks awkwardly passes. Time to change the subject. He taps the cooler near him with a foot.]

Say, uh, I got gelato fer everybody. There's a pint in here with yer name on it for whenever ya want it. Gingerbread flavor.

[Reno laughed.]

I'm just kiddin', yo. Relax.

Just be careful -- someone might actually do it.

[Maybe.]

Thanks, man. I, um, actually...

[He pulled an envelope out of his plain bag of gifts and offered it to Sparks.]

It's nothin' special, but happy Starlight thing.

Right, happy Starlight thing. Thanks. This planet really goes crazy with the holidays, though. It's been like a three-week-long marathon 'a cheer. I think I'm gettin' exhausted.

[Reno snorted and shook his head.]

Three weeks? The amount a' parties the Heroes seem t' throw for every reason, I feel like it's been goin' on forever.

Starlight is a bit intense, though.

[He looked over the room thoughtfully -- all the people exchanging gifts, eating, happy. Calm.]

Think of it this way. When it's over, an' things start turnin' t' crystal again, it'll be a helluva lot less cheer. I think I'll be okay to suffer through the next week of peace.

Halloween, Thanksgivin', Christmas, then New Year's... it's a non-stop party bein' a Hero. [Said as dryly as could be.] But yer right, we need to get it in now before things start gettin' awful again. Cuz it'll happen soon enough. Guess I'd rather be exhausted from parties than whatever else.

For now, let's eat ice cream 'n drink some booze.
