Christmas Party & Cheer

WHO: OPEN
WHEN: FORWARD DATED: December 22nd
WHERE: Christmas Town
WHAT: Celebrating the snow, the holidays, good cheery, warm fires and friends.
WARNING: Mistletoe?

With Rukia's help they were able to find a large enough hall in Christmas Town to throw the party. Zelda had set it for this day since a group of brave heroes were going to set out on the 24th. She had made sure that everything was perfect and of course everyone was invited. There were at least six decorated trees with polished silver and gold ornaments hanging from their branches. Scarlet red ribbons decorated the trees and tables with large bows tying the streaming trails together.

There was one very large tree at the halls center and there were a few presents around the bottom for those who needed a place to put gifts. At it's top was a large pointed star.

Champagne and small finger snacks were set on the tables and a part of the room was cleared for those who wanted to dance. Zelda was even able to hire a few people to play Christmas songs throughout the night. There was a table dedicated to sweets with cookies, cakes, small pies and other wonderful treats spread out for people to try.

Among the decorations was mistletoe. This little plant hung above the doorways waiting for any pair who happens to be caught in their hold. Most of the mistletoe was thanks to Minako but Zelda might have put up one sprig at the entrance to the party; it's all in good fun and kisses on the hand or cheek are perfectly acceptable.

[ooc: feel free to make open posts and tag around! It's a party!]

Are you?

[That comes as a bit of a surprise, but all things considered, she has to agree with his thoughts. With the Heran Empire on the brink of being swallowed up by the Calamity, there isn't much left to threaten Esdham's defenses. Rukia inclines her head.]

I think you may be right. There's little more for us to do at this point.

[If she had any scientific knowledge, she might consider following him out, but the military life is more closely aligned with what she knows, and what she can do. It does give her the freedom to explore the world more easily as well, as she knows the answers to their dilemma must be out there somewhere.]

What kind of research will you be specializing in? I wasn't aware you were keenly interested in the sciences.

I used to be a scientist -- both as a civilian and in military -- until I gave that up to serve the army in a more traditional capacity. It was supposed to be a permanent career change, but I can't seem to shake off my desire for knowledge.

[However much he tried to. In hindsight, abandoning his research had clearly been partially motivated by a desire to put as much space as possible between him and the less morally sound period of his life. It doesn't bother him too much to admit that now -- it ended up being for the best. More or less.]

Our Custom Job project is just about finished. I'll see what else we can do with it later on, once I'm done taking care of other priorities.

No, I agree with your decision. It is harder to find good researchers than it is to find capable warriors. Besides.

[Her shoulders hitch.]

Right now, it is knowledge that we need more than anything else. I thank you.

[Rukia just hopes his pay remains relatively the same. She'll have to keep donating to the projects, since that's about all she can offer. Even so, her eyes light up at the prospect of custom jobs.]

This is excellent news! It will be nice to feel like my former self again.

[It'll also answer a deeply personal question that's troubled her for several weeks as well.]

Is there anything you need from me?

Not at all. There is no need to thank me until I've earned it with results.

[It's probably for the best that she doesn't ask Jade about his wages. That would be a rather depressing topic.]

If you find yourself with any extra income, we could always use more donations. Every resource we secure makes a difference in the long run.

Besides that, just come visit the lab after the New Year's whenever you have the time. I know our Moogles are eager to start creating Custom Jobs, and the data we collect in the process should help advance our future research as well.
