[Hospital]

Jack is a common visitor to the hospital. He's never stopped coming, usually every two to three weeks. He's used to the increased security around the Crystallized Heroes, and even the guards are getting used to seeing him. His first order of business is to go to the bedside of Paddra Nsu-Yeul, to replace the flowers by her bedside. He tries to bring different things each time, to show Yeul different things from around Crystallis, anything that Terra can get for him. This time, they're small, white 'Christmas Roses,' although they aren't really part of the Rose family.

She's in there. They aren't gone. So he talks to Yeul, low, quiet, and respectful, but he's speaking to her like a friend. Telling her about their mission to the Heran Empire, that it snowed again, what they were doing for Christmas.

After a while, he stands, and moves to a different bedside. The newest addition to the Ward: the Lady Ashelia.

Queen Ashelia, apparently. But now, the woman who had been such a stabilizing and uniting force among the heroes is here, with so so many of the others. There's almost a part of Jack hoping that this was just a death. Some assassin that crept in during the night, and she'll come back, like the others. But he knows better.

He says nothing, only looking at the Lady Ashe, as if staring at her hard enough will give him the answers to the questions he can't even define. Abruptly, he turns and starts walking up the hall. He is looking for someone, preferably someone who works at the Hospital, but other visitors will work, too. He'll stop anyone he recognizes, "Excuse me?"

[House B-03]

Jack had helped haul the damn thing in (equipped Paladin and Dark Knight and the machine still felt like it weighed a ton getting it down those steps). It was shaped all the wrong way, and the weight balance was all off, and yet, once they got it all down and plugged in to their basement, he hadn't wanted to even look at it anymore.

But curiosity had finally gotten the better of him, and he was giving Chiaki's game machine a try. Unfortunately for Jack, he hadn't figured out how to turn the sound down, so the sounds of a particular song can be heard upstairs.

Hospital

Cloud had avoided the crystalized Heroes for a time following the events of the Night of Thirteen Moogles. With his own involvement in the matter he felt responsible for the rise of the crystaline Heroes and his inability to do anything to help stop them. That, and when he did stop in after the fact he felt troubled to find Zack's statue in a slightly different pose than it had been previously.

He missed his friend.

And now there was a new statue there, and so Cloud had another excuse to drop by. More respects to be paid. And truths to confirm.

After apologizing to Zack for his long absence he moved to the other new resident. He jumped a bit when Jack spoke but he turned to the other Hero, saying nothing but his face showing he was open to talk.

"Ah, sorry," Jack puts out a hand, smiles a little, but it's gone quickly. He glances to the figure that Cloud was talking to, Zack, someone he had never met. He schools his features back into a respectful look. "Didn't mean to interrupt. Are- you also here for..." He deliberately looks back at Ashelia. Silly to think that Jack would be the only one wanting to visit, wanting to see for himself.

"Hmm? Oh yeah..." He sighed as he looked back and forth between Zack and Ashe. There were also the statues of Angeal, Aerith and both Genesis. It was as if there was something about Gaia that Crystallis couldn't quite grip onto.

"I'm...not sure how I should feel about this. I mean...she's not dead right? But I don't think we get to go back to our homes if this happens either." Sephiroth and Yuffie said it was more like catching up in their dreams, or something like that.

"I hope she isn't awake like this..."

DDR

Jack had proven to be a good ally, but more than that he also seemed to have an insight of the goings on in this world that Kidd found helpful. While his world seemed to be closer to her own than Crystallis, he was able to mold his thoughts and experience to adapt to his situation. Considering what she'd seen over the past few months she hoped to run some of her new intel past him and see what he though.

What she wasn't expecting was to be taken down to the basement and find him dancing away in front of a large machine.

"Wha-what is this?"

"Ack!" Jack very quickly glances over his folder to see Kidd standing there, but automatically looks back at the screen to catch the next arrow as it scrolls up. "Umm." Trying to talk and step at the same time. "So Chiaki made this." That really should be all the explanation that's needed. "She brought it home from her shop up in the Christmas village." Step step. "Uh. It's a game! And it's kind of fun."

Great great great great. "Oh, come on." Finally, The song ends and Jack and turn his full attention to his visitor. "What are you...?" Never mind, the cackling of one mischievous moogle floats down from stairway. "Ah. Mogwen."

Jack gestures for Kidd to take the right pad. "Come on, two people can play at once."

Kidd looked the machine over. She had taken a brief pass through the arcade in Mysidia but hadn't spent any significant time in it. She recognized the design of the machine but the the function of it didn't quite come to her at an initial glance. More impressive was Chiaki's industriousness in bringing a piece of that technology back with her.

"I was here to speak with you about a few things. Compare notes perhaps." She looked tentatively at the platform. She didn't expect it to hurt her or anything but she certainly didn't know what TO expect. She stepped up onto the player 2 pads.

"So how does this device work?"

[Seriously, you had heavy things to lift and you didn't call Johnny? He had stopped by Chiaki's place to drop of some money for a battery when he hears the dance music coming from downstairs. He can't help but peek in.]

The hell's that noise?

Ruh roh. Jack pauses and stares at Johnny for a second, as if caught in the act doing something, long enough for the arrows to keep on scrolling past the top bar until the game fails out. "Wait- no! Um." Looks at the screen, looks back at Johnny.

"...Hi."

"Oooh. I shoulda guessed." Johnny descends the stairs to take a good look at the machine.

"Didn't mean to interrupt. Still not used to hear the sound of dance music comin' outta anywhere around here, y'know?

"Glad to see this showed up from the arcade. Even if I totally suck at it."

Jack might, actually have almost walked into someone--although if he'd recognize her might be questionable. They'd only met the once, and Lydia (being maxed out as a Vampire) was silent and had no shadow. Normally the younger teen is a lot more cheerful and outgoing, but almost bumping into someone else? Wide dark-eyes are startled for a moment, before Lydia summons a ghost of a smile.

There's a sketchbook in her hands, and her messenger bag around her shoulders. Dressed in black, except for the red-spider-web themed covering-cloak-poncho. "Excuse me. I should be watching where I'm going. Mr. Harkness right? The Time Traveler?" The smile isn't reaching her eyes though. "Well, I mean, before we were all stuck in the past that is."

Jack does manage to stop himself just short of accidentally bumped into her. Whoops. "Oh! Hi!" He definitely recognizes her, she stands out a bit, being one of the few really young kids among the Heroes. "Um..." It takes him a second, "Lydia!"

"And, well, yeah," Jack smiles for the kid. "Time Traveler. Although we're all kind of time travelers now, aren't we?"

She's used to standing out, young or not. The smile slightly widens when he remembers her, but still isn't reaching her eyes. "Just like we're all 'Heroes'?" There's an eyebrow-raise with the rhetorical question. She's been doing a lot of thinking lately, and it's not always a good thing.

"It is nice to see you again though, Mr. Harkness. You've been well?"

Minato wasn't expecting to be addressed, if only because the man probably could've approached some other, older nurse. (Usually, those with more years are more trusted, or something. Plus he's only been here a few months.) But the teenager guessed he must've been the closest available, and anyway this was still his job even if he was only checking in briefly today. Minato straightened up his posture, ready to provide answers where he could.

Jack manages to put on a friendly smile. "Hey. I don't believe we've met, uh, Captain Jack Harkness," he holds out a hand. "You're another of the Heroes?" That would make this even better.

"I had a question about how the- fallen Heroes are ending up here." It's the most polite term he can think of for it. He points a finger straight down, indicating the wing they currently find themselves in. "Here, as opposed to anywhere else."

"Minato Arisato. Yeah."

His being boy of few words is clear, two sentences into the conversation. Some form of professionalism allows him to do a tiny smile in return as he takes Jack's hand, but it fades as quickly as it appears.

Jack's question then makes him pause to think. There go the hopes of them being easy answers to provide. He doesn't look panicked or nervous as he looks at him again, just a bit lost.

"... Could you clarify what you mean?"

[With the loud music playing, it's probably pretty easy for Jack to miss Chiaki slowly padding down the stairs in her socks. Doubly so, considering she's got Ninja equipped as one of her Jobs now. She stands right behind him, waiting for the song to finish, only speaking up once it finally does.]

...Good job. Is this your first time?

Jack didn't hear her at all, but she is polite enough to wait until the song is over to scare Jack out of his skin. "Geez!" He turns around, and gives Chiaki a look as if caught with his hand in the cookie jar. "Umm." Breathing a little hard.

"You know, I thought I would just try it out...it did look cool. Yeah, that's my first time trying it." You're babbling, Jack. He tilts his head to the side a little. "It's harder than it looks?"

The biggest trick for beginners is to learn not to return to center after hitting a note. The game won't penalize you for keeping your feet planted on the left and right arrows, and you have a lot more flexibility when you're working from a wider standing position.

[Yup, right into explanations, because that is how she rolls.]

Of course, it's nice to have the noise of her housemates returned. However, on top of the everyday sounds of 'people living', ther ewas now a new little melody going on that got her attention.

And boy was it loud! As the towering blonde goes to investigate, she finds Jack stationed in front of the machine. "Oh, is that what you were lugging around?" she asks, having not bothered investigating before now. "Is that one of Chiaki's little video games?" Though little is not one of the operating words here.

"I wonder if it's like her little tomadachi thing?"

Oops. Jack does a double-take as he gets caught by Val. Little, she says. Jack tries to laugh off his embarrassment. "Yeah! Sorry if we made a racket getting this thing down the stairs. Or if I taught Chiaki new swear words."

Jack gestures to the screen. "It is! Well, it is a game, it's not quite like the pets." Although the pets are cool. Jack points at the arrows on the pad. "You play it with your feet! And the music helps you time it. Haven't figured out how to turn the volume down yet, sorry if it's bothering you?"

"Oh no, but... well, that isn't saying you weren't noisy, but, it wasn't a bother." she responds.

Looking at the large metal pad, she extends a bare foot out to it and instantly pulls back. "Oh no no no, I simply can't play that in this condition." she says. Her reaction was not unlike putting a toe in cold water.

In an instant she's reminded of pre-Aquares, where she still didn't feel temperatures, like she naturally didn't.

[Tazendra made her own trips every five days (what she considered a week) when she was in Aquares Ixen to check on her own friends in Stasis. Mostly out of habit now that she was sure it was the long haul, though she did spend some time talking about her day and giving updates on the events of the world. She was heading towards the ward when Jack stopped her. Given her height, it was easy to assume she was a Hero, after all.]

Jack has seen Tazendra around, she certainly stands out, but he can't remember if he's spoken with the woman before. So, he puts on a friendly smile. "Don't know if we've met before, Captain Jack Harkness."

Maybe a neural start before he launches into business. He glances back towards Ashe, "Here visiting someone?"

Reno had been there awhile -- he'd lost track of time, as he usually did. But he was deep in thought when Jack addressed him, so he looked rather startled when he glanced up. "Huh? What?"

Oh -- him. Yes, Reno did believe he'd seen Jack before, here in the hospital. They hadn't spoken, but they both visited frequently enough, it was almost impossible not to have seen him.

Hel-lo. It's impossible for Jack to not give Reno an extra once-over, as he's seen the man before, but never so...up close.

"Ah, Captain Jack Harkness. Didn't mean to disturb you, but I've got a few lingering questions about this place." He cautiously glances at the nearest bed, looking for who Reno was visiting.
