Pardon Jack his child-like wonder for a minute. In all his years, all his travels, he's never met a real-life no-not-an-alien-that-happens-to-look-like-that Dragon. So, at first he stares in amazement, with his whole face lit up, and then he laughs in delight. "Oh wow. Oh wow, it is very nice to meet you."

Rialynn makes a very good point, but Jack maybe thinks he knows the answer. "Dragons are hoarders. At least, that's always the story, right? A dragon in a cave sitting on a huge pile of gold and gems?" Hmm. "Maybe it wants one it can't get inside the forest? Something new?"

Jack pats down his pockets, then holds up a single finger and pulls off his pack and starts digging through it. "'s around here...somewhere. Was saving it for when I was gonna get some armor crafted..."

[Being the closest to the dragon, Duster doesn't realize how far behind Rialynn and Jack are until he turns back in alarm. There isn't a particular reason why a dragon would cause her much worry: they only exist in myths and deep underground, yet they do not go out of their way to harm others. Perhaps his green dragon is like the Dark Dragon, now that he thinks about it. Be kind to it, and it will be kind in return.

Though that doesn't explain Jack's laughter.
]

A new crystal...? [How is he supposed to know what kind of crystals the dragon can't find in a forest made entirely of crystal? It has to be something special, something extraordinary in that case...

He pulls out his own Crystal from a side pouch and gazes into the deep red core. This has to be what the dragon was talking about.

[Rialynn looks from Duster to the dragon, then to Duster's crystal.]

I...don't think you want any of the ones we carry. They'll just disappear and wind up back in our possession after a little while anyway, won't they?

[She looked toward one of the other Heroes for confirmation on this. Kuponia had mentioned it to her previously, but she wanted to make sure she remembered this correctly.]

Terra's words make Jack look up. Oh. But that sword was a present, wasn't it? "I think I've got an extra Light Crystal in here. I left the Northern plains with two..."

Uh, Duster is holding out his own stone, and Jack looks at him cautiously, frozen with one arm still stuffed halfway into his bag. When Jack Harkness thinks something is a bad idea? What's the best way to talk both hero and dragon out of it?

The bag drops with a thunk, and Jack emphatically nods at Rialynn. "Yeah! Last time I left home, I even tried to leave my crystal behind, and it didn't work. I tried to use a job ability, and I just automatically," Jack waves a hand, "brought it to myself. So, you give it to him, and then you'd accidentally take it back."

There is a nervous pause, as Jack watches them both to see if they're believing him, even though Jack isn't lying. "Annnd all those stories about dragons also say that the last thing you ever want to do is to go back on any deal you make with one."

[Three versus one. If Jack hadn't mentioned the crystal he brought with him, Duster would have considered risking handing over his own. Making the dragon angry at one of the party to save the others would be preferable to no gifts. The teleportation, though? Strange, but not entirely impossible, considering what Duster has seen of Crystallis.

He pockets the red crystal.

Is everything alright? You look nervous. [Is it the dragon, or something else?

Speaking of the dragon, he turns to it.
] Do each of us need to give you a crystal?

[Thankfully, Duster pulled his crystal back. Albel let out the breath he was surprised to discover he'd been holding. What was that about? Was he seriously worried about the stranger? If Duster gave his crystal and died, well then it would only serve him right for being so stupid.]

[His eyes turned to Jack's Light Crystal as well. If they didn't all have to provide one for the benefit, and Jack was willing to relinquish his spare...]

I think yours has caught its attention...

[He murmured to Jack, gesturing to his bag.]

[OOC: Gonna go ahead and cap this off, then, if nobody else is tagging in.]

Jack moves very deliberately towards the Dragon with the Light Crystal outstretched. Yess, you want this one. Bright white with the way that the light reflects through it? Jack slowly and carefully puts it down on the ground close to the Dragon. "A gift, then." So you will please not eat us all?
