Jade wasn't watching the fight. Like Reno, he was working feverishly on closing the rift -- though unlike the younger man, he didn't turn to look behind him. He couldn't, even with the sounds of bodies crashing on the floor, not even as he heard the others shouting Sephiroth's name. Closing the rift was more important than indulging his fear for the others.
Idiot, idiot, idiot! How could I have been so careless? They had known meddling with Palitutu's program was dangerous, and Jade hadn't cared. Not enough. He'd been too desperate for something to counter the Sage's knowledge with, and too arrogant to consider he might make a mistake. Of all the times he had to be so damn enamored with his own brain--
"It's almost closed!" Not fast enough to stop the large manikin from breaking out and going for Cloud -- but if they could just stop any more of them from coming in, they might be able to finish off the rest...
Jade sensed movement behind him and ducked. A blade of crystal went swinging over his head as another manikin barely missed him. With no close combat Jobs equipped, he had no means of fighting back, and was forced to abandon his post. It was then that he caught sight of the others, fighting -- and of Sephiroth and Ace, lying there on the brink of death.
He darted around the manikin in an attempt to get to the injured Heroes, cursing under his breath. If he couldn't fight, at least his mastered White Mage Job had to be good for something.
