Antagonist Mingle || Aqures Ixen

If you want to play out something between the villains, then feel free to use this thread! Aqures Ixen is pretty much left unchanged from what it currently is. If anything, it is a much less pleasant city. A lot less of natives live there while a lot more soldiers patrol the streets, whether they are from Esdham or elsewhere. There are no more Bitzball or Triple Triad games and with Mognet having closed down for civilians, there are no more strikes.

Ryoji Kaji | Palace office

Instrumentality. It always comes back to that word. A clean-cut Ryoji Kaji has been relentless in the pursuit of the idea that they can perhaps take control of this world-ending catastrophe. Put the right person in the right place at the right time, and they get to pick and choose which worlds live and die? To reshape this world, if it's the only other option rather than destruction?

Kaji and his daughter have been sitting very comfortably in Aqures Ixen. His focus is currently turned to locating the missing crystallized Heroes. He even has moogles out helping to look, he's turned them into the information network that he always knew that they could be. He's taken over one of the offices in the Palace. Ego much, there Kaji?

The decision to remake the world. To choose who lives and dies? Maybe Kaji doesn't want it himself. So long as his own world is one of the ones chosen to be destroyed. It's funny. Ikari is beating his head against a wall, thinks of himself as the god of the new world? And it's Ryoji Kaji who is going to determine their fate.

Ales | Airship Docks

This was it. The day they all moved out to finally stop the ignorant "Heroes" from letting the universe be destroyed. Ales hadn't changed much in the past two years, save for the darker clothes, the cape, and a smaller hat that lacked the characteristic golden start. There was no point in pretending to be a "hero" anymore, now that their stupidity passed the final tipping point. Just like in the Glade of Dreams, he understood that some sacrifices had to be made, some people killed, to keep the order of the universe, and this time there were many more that shared this view.

Once Cid was gone and the ignorant faction lost their airship expert, Ales stole the scientist's works and began rebuilding and repurposing those airships with new designs. Now they were bigger with more plating armor, and they looked less like ships are more like flying fortresses. Due to these actions, Ales became one of the most valuable members to the Aqures Ixen faction, planning out air invasions and heading technological developments.

Ales spent more and more time by the giant airships during the weeks before his attack on Mysidia. Firstly to check up on his fleet, but mostly in shock at how much they accomplished. He failed to take over the Glade, yet here he was, ready to accomplish what he couldn't before. It was almost surreal.

Ales stands on a stack of boxed to better oversee the workers, and his heavily-modified Engineer Puppet standing beside him like a bodyguard. A small smirk spreads over his face.

Yes, the universe will be safe, and he'll have his moment of glory at last.

Robin | Airship Docks

[She remembers when she first came to Aqures Ixen, seeing the airships for herself. They looked different, then. These are so much more... advanced. They're hers, too. The armies that the Heroes gathered are considerable; the technology they unearthed is powerful. But it still fills Robin with an unwelcome nostalgia.]

[She remembers Morgan seeing them, of course. And Chrom, too. To think... to think it all ended like this.]

[Again.]

[The tactician and commander stands on a catwalk looking over the airship docks, a gloved hand resting on the railing. Her expression is distant; as ever, her cloak's hood is pulled up over her head. Her silver hair still falls out of it and her violet eyes look down. Thanks to her new Job, those eyes always glow -- and a little motes of black light drift up from the ground.]

Jade Curtiss | Palitutu's Lab

For a while after the Rift accident, Jade had avoided the lab. The sterile rooms, though long since cleaned of the blood and damage of that day, served as a bitter reminder of his failure, and the loss of their last hope for survival. But in the end... Running didn't change reality. And so he had returned to work.

Eventually the pain had dulled. So had everything else.

Jade turned the Black Crystal idly in his hand, wondering whether it had been like this for the Heroes of the last cycle when they'd made the same choice. Well, it didn't really matter. Jade didn't care to feel one way or another about it anymore -- there was still work left to do. He'd need to make sure Garland survived until it was time to restart the cycle. More pressingly, they needed to locate the crystallized Heroes soon, before some of his "allies" could enact their own plans.

After all, it wasn't as though he wanted to see Crystallis destroyed. Jade had nothing but the preservation of mankind in mind.

The Black Crystal slipped into his pocket to join his white one. Hopefully he would never have to use it, but if it became necessary... No one could accuse him of being unprepared. He had done as much research as humanly possible. Finished with the lab for now, Jade turned to stride towards the exit with nary a glance at the rest of the staff. He should visit the castle, see if there was any news of the crystallized Heroes...

Graham Specter | Airship docks close to go time

[Graham is so full of energy that he can't stand still. Not that this is too different from normal, except that this a nervous type of energy, as he goes over the plans in his head over and over. He paces back and forth in front of the flagship that will be heading to drop him off at the secret location of the Diamond WEAPON, before they all made their way to Mysidia to enact their plan.

He didn't much like the plan or this situation at all. But he believed in Boss Ales's plan, and that those against them are in the wrong. They couldn't chance things further, and in this dire hour, sacrifices needed to be made.

On the other hand, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't excited to get back to the Diamond WEAPON. Ever since they found it, Graham has been captivated by working with such a unique machine. He even refuses to let others come near it, if he can help it. It only makes sense that he'll be the one to pilot it - and fire its ray guns at the continent.

Lately, he's had a lot of nonsense to spew about life and death, beginnings and ends, heroes and villains; today probably won't be any different.]

Cloud Strife | Aqures Ixen Markets

It was at the point where Cloud didn't need to exchange words with the merchants anymore. The few that continued to actually provide service for the Heroes who now commanded the city soon became the sole guardians of commerce as those who refused service were pushed out. Cloud never used those threats against them though, he still cared about the people of this world even as it dwindled before them.

A bag of gil was passed to the merchant, same as the week before, to pay for the supplies that would be sent to the Chocobo Ranch. Cloud hadn't been working there in over a year now, but that wasn't to say he had turned his back either. He just had other responsibilities to handle.

He walked the streets, tails of his white coat and his blonde ponytail swaying in the cold breeze. His eyes watched the patrols come and go but he had nothing to fear from them. He could take a whole patrol in a fight if it came to it now. He'd become strong, just like his Hero. His hand clutched the hilt of the Masamune at the thought as he kept walking. Preparations were being made and he should get back to Terra's place soon.

But he chose to take his time. In the city he knew she was safe. Everyone knew that to bring her any harm or anguish would be to bring the SOLDIER down on them. He had achieved his dream. People noticed him and respected his power and ability. But why did it feel so empty?

The months here changed Ruby Rose a lot, physically. Older, taller, more phyiscally fit. She was certainly not Yang in any case, but the battles made her better in many ways. Maybe she resembled her long-lost mother, Summer, who knows? Either way, the Huntress-in-training certainly made strides in her own work.

It was very rare to see Ruby without her corgi Zwei and just as rare to see her not riding either her velociraptor... RWBYsaurus (she was always insistent on that name) Monty or the strange Iron Giant she tamed and named "Penny". Of course, there are rumors of why she named the mechanical machine that...

Pre-Scene #01 || Thoughts on the Negotiations [open]

Negotiations organized by a neutral party, huh...

[ Shortly after it was agreed upon who of them would be selected as the representatives, the more formal part of the meeting: the decision to take this chance, was closed. Now it was up to Minato to ask around for the others' opinions on the notion. As one of their two mouthpieces, he had to know where their feelings and apprehensions lay, and also figure what was best for them as a course of action. While he was never very skilled at arguing per se, he was also grateful that they didn't try to nominate anyone who was infamously hot-tempered. At the least, Minato hoped he could deflect tensions from rising high.

Remaining where he was at their meeting table, he waved his hand to once again, get the attention of those who remained who were chattering between one another. ]

I'm sorry to keep you from your business--I'll form my arguments on my own time later on, but what else do you think we should say to them? And what precautions should we take?

Sonic had came to a stop as he arrived in Aerilon. It seemed that this was probably one of the few places he could really hang out at. He'd become determined not to get caught up in either side's petty fights and figure out this problem himself, but it seemed that every time he could find that point, he'd be met up with either side.

Finding a chair by a small cafe, he sat back and relaxed.

General Mingle || MarKus and Yuffie

As per the agreement with a few people, MarKus and his small private ship, along with his partner, arrived to try and negotiate some sort of... truce. Agreement. He knew what his side wanted, he knew what he wanted, surely there was some middle ground they could all reach.

But it wasn't time for that yet, and it seems some guards, or just some angry folk weren't allowing him to go far from landing before the meeting started.

And there MarKus stands, cigarette in his mouth, bandanna on tight, but otherwise looking rather well dressed for the meeting coming up. Nanami could do what she liked, didn't matter, she was just more diplomatic than him so, it worked that way while he... Well nevermind.

The Two Years || Open Thread

That Inter-dimensional Rift Accident [Open]

That an accident of this scale hadn't happened before, with the various unknowns that those in the Laboratory were researching, was a blessing in it's own right. However, if such a thought had rested on Sephiroth's conscience at all, it had for only a moment in reaction as Spencer had burst around the corner where he'd been on his way home; rather panicked and out of breath reeling off the carnage which was already well underway at the Laboratory. Though Sephiroth had not encountered any such crystalline entities before personally, he'd heard enough about them through others reporting. If they were to get out from that building, there again would be carnage in the streets of Aqures Ixen.

Though there were a handful of Heroes he'd encountered on the way back across the city, along with a few off-duty soldiers he encouraged to back them up; by the time that they all arrived, for sure they had their work cut out for them.

Hours later, the seemingly endless hordes of manikins were funneled back into the room from which the rift had opened, while others worked frantically punching keys into the computer program which had malfunctioned in the first place. Desperate to close the portal, as yet more and more of the same beings poured from the open rift. As friends, Heroes and colleagues were picked off around them.

Masamune's keen length was stained a deep crimson, as if the blade had drunk blood from the vast amount of bodies it had carved through, as Sephiroth remained on point; one of those at the very front line from where the crystal beings just kept coming. Cutting them down as they swarmed into the room, though faced with such an unrelenting force even the SOLDIER in his Custom Job had it's limitations.

One glancing blow from a botched parry turned into a rain of bullets there was no way he could have had the chance to consider dodging, yet still his Combat Mode kept him going. The heavy scent of copper soon overcame the fact that he already knew he was sweating from the exertion, as more lesions through leather and flesh were opened by way of stray edges where there were more failures in his guard.

He was airborne, crashing backwards into one of the laboratory tables, a rain of test tubes and other glass apparatus falling down with him to the floor. Shattering all around. Come to think of it, there was a lot of what seemed to be glass debris scattered around the floor of some rooms; probably a result of what he'd just-

Sephiroth had only paused in getting back to his feet for a second before what was left of the latest wave of beings quickly swarmed him. Suddenly there were two heavier, deeper sharp pains to his abdomen. Masamune fell limp at his left side, he followed; to knees, and then into the floor.

Dying, as a Hero of Light occasionally was something of an occupational hazard.

It seemed altogether quieter though; perhaps they'd succeeded in closing the rift. He'd be glad. More likely though, it was his own consciousness flaking as it was bound to now, considering the blood loss -which quickly began to pool around and under him- and the deeper stabs to his gut which seemed little more than dull aches due to the fact he was lying face-first.

Sephiroth could still see, though, through the telltale mist that promised -at least- unconsciousness soon. He raised his eyes, determined to ignore the crimson all around him, looked over a bang of silver that had fallen a little in the way and spotted another Hero lying not so very far away.

"Ace-" He wasn't certain how loud his voice was, how much more than a wet grunt it could be; but he had to at least try before light temporarily was snuffed out.

Chiaki Nanami | Computer Terminals | Open to All

[In this future, Chiaki exists as an artificial intelligence inside the various computer systems remaining in Crystallis. She has the capability to project into any system with a form of wireless access, but can only be 'in' one computer at a time. Still, she has made herself available to both sides of the conflict as well as the various neutral parties in hopes that she can mediate between them and gather enough information to create a third option that will satisfy everyone. Chiaki's presence can be requested by opening the command prompt and entering the Konami Code - instructions that she provided to all Heroes of Light before assuming digital form. If you want to talk with her outside the confines of any of the other scenes, feel free to do so here.]

#01 Attempts at Negotiations || Trano Golsaucia

This scene starts at a Cafe in Trano Golsaucia, as the Neutral characters welcome the Protagonists and Antagonists who have agreed to try and negotiate. This happens in a public place, in the hope that this will prevent accidents from happening.

[Zack had seen a lot that would consider him for a lot of therapy. If he survived this at least.

Picked by the Protagonists in this fight, he was hesitating in front of the Cafe as he waited for his partner to show up. He looked somewhat distracted, playing dance steps along his mind to relieve the sense of worry he had.

He remembered Nanami and MarKus, from when he had first arrived. How innocent of a situation that was. And yet, here they were, attempting to create a truce.

It was here that Zack took a breath, the hidden, heavy weight of his Driver strapped to his waist a constant reminder that they were at War. And this time, there was no Kazuraba or Golden Fruit to end it all.]

#02 Tactical Espionage Action || Aqures Ixen

This scene starts as the infiltrating group reaches Aqures Ixen and Palitutu's Lab, as their enemies may be about to find out their presence.

Since no one else could take this job, Kobato had been more than willing to offer. It helped by the fact she even had Illusionist equipped at the time. It made using the abilities and such make it seem like a good idea. So she had used the Disguise ability in the hopes that she wouldn't get noticed right off the bat while trying her hardest to show how she had changed over the past two years.

With a confident nod she looked over with her companion who was working with her and slightly at the others she smiled.

"I think we're close. So should we quickly go over what we are doing?"

#03 Judgmental Glares || Aerilon

This scene starts at O'aka's former shop, as the characters fight the urge to sigh and facepalm to have a decent and constructive discussion.

[Mercifully, there are still some Ancient computers left at O'aka's old shop. If there weren't, it would be quite a challenge for Chiaki to be here to discuss alternative plans at all. For nearly a year now, she has existed solely in the form of an artificial intelligence, moving between the computers across Crystallis in a vain attempt to heal the schism between the Heroes of Light.

She's done her best to gather information from both sides, but the seeds of distrust have been sown quite deeply, and she hasn't been able to make much progress. Hopefully her companions have managed to uncover more. One of the computers in the corner of the room flares to life as the others assemble, Chiaki's pixellated face appearing on it, her voice just slightly synthesized.]

...It's getting worse, isn't it? We need to come up with a plan.

#04 The Fight for the Crystallized Bodies || Aqures Tosf

Well, this is a fine damn mess you've gotten yourself into, Harkness.

As soon as death was a reality for the Heroes again, Jack's first questions had been about the crystalized heroes. Would they come out of it? Were they stuck there now? So it was no surprise that protecting them had become one of Jack's priorities, even before they discovered that the defenseless heroes were a vital piece in the plan for the Heroes who thought they'd found a compromise.

Sure. Save the world, sacrifice a few people and their worlds in the process. Now what does that sound like?

It had been partially Jack's idea to move the heroes here, a place that they all knew would withstand a lot of time without getting found. But it was only a matter of time before they figured it out, and so Aqures Tosf might be the stage for another showdown between the Heroes.

The Doctor is back there. One of him, at least. He'd be telling Jack right now to hand him over, if it meant saving this world. But it's a good thing he's not the one to make that decision. Because first the Doctor, and then who else? Who gets to make the choice of who lives and dies? No.

Jack's grim look fades into almost a smile as he turns away from the approaching army and towards his companions. He couldn't have asked for better allies here. "So...options? Do we even want to try talking to them?"

[Pyrrha waits outside the gates of Mysidia, ever the image of a strong and noble warrior - clad in golden armor, sword and shield at the ready, and with her long red hair flowing behind her on the breeze. If she's worried at all, the expression on her face does not betray such emotion.

This is what she's trained to do for half her life, after all. Whether against grimm, the monsters of this world, or even former friends, a huntress' job is to fight, and to defend the people who can't. It's never easy, but she knew it wouldn't be from the very first time she picked up a weapon.]

...Get ready. They're coming.

[She glances to her left and right, briefly regarding the others that have been sent out to defend this place. They're in a bind, to be sure, but if this is where she is destined to fall, at least she'll do so among friends who are fighting for the hope of a brighter future. She could ask for no more.]

#06 The Fight for the Moon || Lunar Gate

This scene starts at the group reaches Lunar Gate and encounters the Antagonists guarding the place.

"Oh brother," those were the first words the emitted from Yuri's throat as he approached the gates. Yuri and Sheena had things to do in this area so they tagged along with some of the protagonist since it was more beneficial that way. Yuri made sure to remind them that he had his own agenda and they shouldn't expect much help from him. The only thing he offered as protection up until this point since monsters and other things that the Calamity brought were lurking on the pathway here.

Repede stood by his side, while switching the side of his pipe. Yuri had his Blastia on his wrist again and his maxed out custom class at his disposal. He would prefer to not fight his former companions, allies and whatever else they seemed to be. He didn't have any beef with them. He merely wanted to get his business done and be on his way. Of course, Yuri wasn't going to admit to them that he was also gathering information with Sheena in order to figure out other means that aren't too ridiculous like these two factions.

He needed to finish this quick so that he could find Rukia and some other people that mattered to him. He didn't want to be hindered, and thus those who stood in his way would be cleaved at his disposal. However, that was the last resort anyway. Yuri again wasn't looking for a fight.

The vigilante sighed a moment before speaking to the antagonists that were guarding the gate in a rather calm and collected manner. He was known for being sarcastic thus it showed in his tone as he spoke.

"So what's the big idea guarding the Gate? We have some personal business to take care of on the Moon Base. If you would kindly let us pass, we'll be out of your hair. That and whatever you two sides want to do, has nothing to do with me. I'm only with them because it was convenient."

Yuri was one to get straight to the point once he started speaking. Perhaps, that could cause some discrepancies in his relationships at the moment.

#07 Conflict Above the Stars || Moon Base

This is it. This had to be it. Things had to end here. Tsubomi was going to make sure it did. She hoped the others would be okay while they did this and she honestly hoped Erika would stand down for this.

Already set up in her Cure Blossom form, Tsubomi burst through the main office with a cry. "Stop this! Please, you have to stop this! This is getting us nowhere!"

#08 The Birth of a God || Crystal Life Tree

This scene starts at the Antagonist and Protagonists arrive from different directions at the place where the Neutral characters just defeated the Calamity Spawn.

Standing next to Selen, Rukia's face was turned upward to admire the white branches of the Life Tree. Her hands didn't shake anymore, the way they had this morning. She knew what she had to do...knew what she would be giving up in order to do it. She could lose herself, if Narayana's will overwhelmed Rukia's. But even so, that was a sacrifice she was willing to make.

There were no final letters of farewell. If she failed, all was lost, and her letters would never be delivered. If she succeeded, then no one would have to remember all of the pain and sorrow they'd been forced to bear these past two years. Everything...everything...could be put right.

Her gaze traveled past the snowy white tips of the tree to the pearly gray clouds that blanketed the sky. They didn't look thick enough to rain, but at least it created the appropriate dismal atmosphere that kept Rukia's heart firm. She glanced at Selen, and inclined her head in a silent nod of respect. If Rukia failed, then it was up to Selen to finish the job if she could. They had nothing left to lose and everything to gain.

In a land as barren as this, it was easy to detect the approaching souls of several other Heroes of Light. Hm~ It seemed someone must have let it slip what they were going to do. And if they were here, they clearly didn't like this idea very much. But it didn't matter now.

Rukia stepped out of her body.

A bright blaze of white light marked the edges where her soul emerged from her physical form, her black robes spilling loosely around her wrists and ankles. The shinigami's short black hair brushed the edge of her jaw as she turned her head to look back at the body she'd left behind. Rather than slump to the ground, the physical body she'd left behind flashed her a happy smile and grinned, flashing a 'v' sign with her fingers.

"We've got this, pyon!" Pyon said, her voice a cartoonishly chipper caricature of Rukia's alto tones. "We'll break their arms if we have to, pyon!"

Rukia hesitated, then nodded once. "If that's what must be done." She shifted her gaze to Selen. "You've been a true friend to me. Thank you." This wasn't something she wanted to face alone. And if she died, she wanted to keep her promise to Kaien, letting her spirit be absorbed by the souls of her friends.

She reached into the folds of her hakama and withdrew a single black crystal, gripping it tightly in both of her hands. There was no time to waste. Turning her back to the tree, she closed her eyes, bowed her head...and pressed her shoulders into the smooth crystal. To her surprise, the crystal surface began to yield to her...or she was yielding to it. Whatever the case, their forms were beginning to bleed together, little by little. If the tree didn't reject her, she would soon be merged with it completely.

Chrom's breath was loud in his ears as he ran down the hallway. The hard soles of his leather boots clicked and clanked on the metal floors. Ordinarily he would have been awed by the technological wonders of the Ancients: the flashing lights, the dozens of machines, being able to teleport! But when it came to Robin, Chrom had a severe case of tunnel vision. He had to get to her. He wanted to hear her reassure him that she wasn't planning on destroying the world and ending it all. She surely couldn't have fallen so far as to consider something like that!

At long last they reached the command room which, thankfully, had the door open. Otherwise Chrom would have embarrassed himself by pounding on the door and yelling Robin's name until someone quietly pushed the button on the control panel.

He burst into the room, his eyes tracking over the others until he finally saw her. "Robin... It's not true, is it?" He shook his head slightly, his expression tightening. "It isn't the sort of thing you would do." She was a tactician, able to think her way out of the most impossible situations. Surely she had a plan for this as well. She just hadn't let Chrom in on it yet, right?

[At last, the Heroes reach Pandaemonium. It has been a long journey, this last-ditch effort to save Crystallis. They have lost friends along the way, watched former allies betray them, but still, they remain set in their goal. They will defeat Garland and deliver Crystallis from the repeated cycle of destruction.]

‘Tis not far now. Let us make haste. We have not a moment to spare.

[Ramza has Excalibur drawn. With the new powers of his job class, he has been able to defeat every enemy he has encountered so far. Even so, he is not so naïve as to think Garland will be unguarded in his crystal keep.]

[ Once the vision over after one hour in real time, the characters will come back to their senses one after the other. The Sage is still in the room quietly waiting for them to wake up, whereas characters who didn't partake in the vision never collapsed-- Instead they were asked by the Sage to be patient until their friends wake up.

Needless to say, the Sage doesn't look impressed and awaits to see if any of them will do anything. ]
