Save the Chocobos

Who: Everyone that signed up for the UFO stakeout
Where: Aqures Ixen, Chocobo Ranch area
When: February 19th-20th, nighttime
Summary: The Heroes of Light hide out at the ranch and wait for the mysterious animal kidnappers to appear.
Warnings: Three comment starters. Final thread will be locked until the end of the stakeout.

[The excitement of Valentoine's Day has passed, and with more news about the UFOs, Duster brings his focus back to the planned stakeout. The night was chillier than any midnight stroll he experienced in Tazmily, and he wears a thick coat that only covered his body above the waist. He pulls his brown hat's earflaps down to better keep the warmth in.

The inside of the stable is warmer, but not by much. It's not much of a savior to Duster, who remains outside, keeping watch as long as he's awake. Staying up late is easy; all it took was fixing his sleep schedule the past few days to his old night owl tendencies.

He takes a seat on a pile of hay by the tables and waits.]

[Yuffie is around to help out though she isn't sure what to do. She gets her supplies ready and then waits for those who are also looking for this strange UFO's. She hopes that it's at least interesting.]

I wonder how long this will take...

[A deep blue Chocobo came running from the direction of the barn, running right at Yuffie! It's head was reared low!

Time for some savage nuzzlings!]

Z-Zack!

[She knows Clouds chocobo considering the time they've had together but she isn't expecting him to come running at her now.]

Calm down!

[Even as she spoke she broke into a grin and began scratching under the birds neck.]

[Cloud comes running, but not after Zack gets a few more nuzzles and chirps in, not to mention some nibbling at Yuffie's hair.]

Yuffie! Hey! Sorry, Zack got away from me as soon as he saw you. He's happy to see you again.

[Zack chirps again and steps back, fluffing up a bit to show off his new plumage.]

[Yuffie grabs her hair trying her best to save it and then failing.]

Yeah... it's been awhile.

[She is trying to sound annoyed except she's grinning at the large stupid bird.]

You're adorable Zack but I don't have any treats for you this time. [Which she usually does.]

[Zack just stares at Yuffie for a moment, and then huffs and twitches his head in comical disbelief at either the insinuation that he's just doing this for treats or that she doesn't have any.

At least he gives up on pecking at her hair and turns around to start pecking at something on the ground.

With his bird distracted once more Cloud looks around at the sky and then back to Yuffie.]

So did you see this thing the last times it showed up?

[Yuffie shakes her head.]

I saw it once.

[She can't say more than that though. She's gone out looking but hasn't found anything at all.]

I saw them twice. So did some others. If it wasn't for each other I think we'd all be wondering if our eyes were playing tricks on us.

[Cloud frowns and glances back at the barn.]

There's one hypello who said he saw some sort of....mutant monster though. I'm worried what these...people have been doing to the chocobos.

[Yuffie releases a slow sigh.]

Me too... I'm not really sure if I can help either but I'm here to try.

You? 'Not sure'? That isn't like you. What are you worried about?

[It's a little surprising to have their roles reversed for once.]

[Yuffie shrugs and has to avoid rolling her eyes at him.]

It's nothing like that but... what if they are aliens? Like real ones.

[Not that Cloud currently has experiance with that.]

Aliens....

[He frowns. The thought HAS crossed his mind from the beginning, but there are so many more plausible explanations. Like some sort of Heran technology or something. Or some other group they haven't met yet.

But space aliens?]

I don't know...If they are maybe they'd know something about the Calamity people on this world don't. All the more reason to get this settled and find out what they want.

[She knows that but she keeps thinking of fantastical things it could be.]
