Save the Chocobos

Who: Everyone that signed up for the UFO stakeout
Where: Aqures Ixen, Chocobo Ranch area
When: February 19th-20th, nighttime
Summary: The Heroes of Light hide out at the ranch and wait for the mysterious animal kidnappers to appear.
Warnings: Three comment starters. Final thread will be locked until the end of the stakeout.

[The excitement of Valentoine's Day has passed, and with more news about the UFOs, Duster brings his focus back to the planned stakeout. The night was chillier than any midnight stroll he experienced in Tazmily, and he wears a thick coat that only covered his body above the waist. He pulls his brown hat's earflaps down to better keep the warmth in.

The inside of the stable is warmer, but not by much. It's not much of a savior to Duster, who remains outside, keeping watch as long as he's awake. Staying up late is easy; all it took was fixing his sleep schedule the past few days to his old night owl tendencies.

He takes a seat on a pile of hay by the tables and waits.
]

((OOC: Welcome to the final UFO Stakeout log! You can still talk with NPCs during the mingle thread, and you are welcome to put up your own starters under the main event thread. The final phase of this event, however, will be a single thread))

[Lydia blinks, and offers a wave and an attempt at a smile. She remembers Miss Tazrenda. They interacted rarely, but that mission last month, before things had gone horrible with the visions, had been fun. Enabled Lydia to start learning a new Job too.]

Miss Tazrenda. How are you?

Well enough. And yourself?

[Lydia tried to brighten her smile, but it fell a bit.]

I'm...better. But that vision the sage gave us...it...really shook me up.

Yes. It was a poor thing to be divided when this is clearly large enough that we all must act.

We...don't even really know why we were divided. I mean, from the memories we do have, it made sense at the time. I can't say that I don't understand how I got to the point I was...

[Except she didn't understand in some ways. As morbid as it was, Lydia privately always felt she'd be more likely to turn her pain inward, commit suicide, than turn it out towards others. Sure she got angry, but angry enough and in pain enough to end EVERYTHING? That had been a new thing for her.]

It was whatever you were told. Or not told, as the case may be. But I have known events that make no sense until one learns of the motivations of the participants.

[There is a slightly frustrated huff, and a rueful smile.]

Maybe, but it doesn't mean it's any more comfortable a place to be in.

In truth, it is not. Especially as it paints a contradiction. One that the sage seems uninterested in resolving.
