Chrom the Builder

WHO: Chrom, OPEN
WHAT: Preparing for the arrival of the refugees, Chrom lends a hand to the Santa Village in building and repairs. He is not shirtless because it's too cold, so everyone is really disappointed.
WHEN: March 12th - 19th
WHERE: Santa Village
NOTES: This is for anyone helping out in the village. Feel free to start up your own threads, you don't have to hang out with Chrom!

Chrom was dressed warmly, thanks to a few of his fans supporters. He'd arrived in spring gear, and was swiftly reduced to chattering teeth and shivering when he realized it was still snowing heavily in this part of the world. But the Moogles were kind, swathing him in a thick woolly scarf, finding fleece-lined gloves for his hands, and using one of the old Santa coats from the holiday season to bundle onto his broad shoulders.

Now he could work without restraint. Sometimes a Moogle flew up to him with a cup of hot coffee or cocoa. (Sometimes they fought over whose turn it was to bring him a hot beverage.) With the bright crimson of his coat, it was easy to see Chrom wherever he was working, whether it be tamping down shingles on a rooftop, or carrying lumber from the woodpiles. The new houses weren't quite so spectacular, but they would provide shelter from the snow, and each one was outfitted with a fireplace, which was absolutely essential to keeping families warm.

Once they had enough basic homes for everyone, then Chrom could get to work with the others on making those humble places into real houses. Did he worry that all of his hard work would go to waste if the Calamity encroached upon this continent too? ...A little. What Garland said was right, they couldn't keep herding refugees from one place to another, stuffing them into increasingly limited living spaces. But it was better than being taken over by the crystal entity, of that much he knew for certain. If it came down to it, he'd give up his own housing and take to the road, much as he had when leading the Shepherds.

While he worked, the Moogles whispered amongst themselves. They'd heard he was a prince. No, a king! exclaimed another. A shame it was so cold, the tourism might have been boosted significantly if he would just labor without a shirt. What a pity.

Selen agreed with Darres on that regard. It was lonely to be on your own in this kind of place. She experienced that first hand for the first month or two before Darres came along. Of course, she kept a strong front despite that.

"Selen is fine, dear."

She replied with a chuckle at his formality. She had more or less outgrown that sort of thing and Crystallis isn't exactly a place for honorifics and formalities. It's kind of a battle field and they were all on the same equal ground of course. She would be willing to discuss with Chrom if he wanted to speak with her later on the matter when they were more acquainted.

"I enjoy assisting people and not everyone is fortunate to be able to defend themselves. You're quite welcome. I'm afraid I'm not as selfless as you. I don't assisting others but only because we share a common goal."
