Feed a fever, starve a cold?
Who: Albel and Reno
What: Player Plot: Down with the Sickness
Where: Throughout Aqures Ixen, in their homes or the homes of their caretakers
When: Albel, May 16 -- ? ; Reno, May 21 -- ? (yes, during Diamond Weapon too, uh oh!)
Warnings: Language as always, hallucinations (possibly including body horror), severe anxiety, will add more if they come up. Headers will be labeled.
[Multiple threads and varying severity are fine, just put Reno or Albel in the thread header for who you want.]
Albel
As if revisiting the Lunar Gate wasn't stressful enough, whatever meltdown Sephiroth had just had was the last straw. Well, to be more specific, opening the can of worms that was Terra was the worst of it, especially when neither man was an especially good communicator as it was. Adding alcohol was just more fuel for the fire. So the Behemoth challenge was like a blessing. Albel could go, beat the thing senseless, and work out his frustrations.
At least that was the plan. But apparently using his Beastmaster job didn't count as "single combat" if he got help from his dragon. He would have beaten the damn thing, too, but for that technicality. Tch, stupid. Now Albel was even more stressed for having lost.
He sneezed. Again. Ugh, so annoying.
... Except it got worse. Sneezing became sniffling, sniffling became coughing, it all became a pounding headache with sweats and chills. Apris, it felt like the mountains of Airyglyph, he was so cold! Could this get any worse?
Reno
Reno blew his nose again. Ugh, gross. The girls had already preemptively quarantined him to his room -- apparently a weird flu had been going around and it was super contagious. But this was just a little cold! It couldn't possibly be that bad.
Colds sometimes had fevers, right? Sometimes? Maybe? Whatever, it wasn't even that high.
At least K-chan could still stay with him. But he didn't have time to be sick right now! The Assassins needed him! Surely this would all go away on its own in a couple of days, and then he'd be fine. It was just that gross sewage air, that was all. It was definitely not going to stop him from hunting down Diamond Weapon. That was too important.
Reno jumped, his heart suddenly racing as he thought he saw something out of the corner of his eye. Breathe, he told himself, trying to calm down. Just a shadow, just a trick of the light.
There were no gods or goddesses to curse him here. There were no gods or goddesses to curse him here...

Albel: hopefully this is okay.
Yuri was walking with Repede when he almost bumped in Albel on the way back to his home. He gave the other a once over, noticing that he didn't look well and he wanted to see if the guy was okay. Of course, who knew what sort of buttons he might be pushing by asking but it couldn't hurt to ask. Yuri was genuinely a caring person when he wanted to be.
He also didn't think the person should be on their own in their current condition.
sorry for late! it's great
He hadn't seen the other man in awhile... In passing, sure, everyone saw nearly everyone else. But they hadn't really spoken since that vision. Albel knew in the sage's "future" they were relatively friendly. And he'd remained cordial toward Yuri in the meantime... well, as cordial as he could be. But things had not gone well during that vision. Not at all.
Sheena had died. And the rest had gone to hell.
Albel wiped his forehead. He had a headache, and was slightly dizzy... was he sweating? Probably. Ugh. "I'm... fine," he lied. Poorly.
It's all good XD I'm slow too forgive me
Means he's not too far off. He still looks terrible. Yuri rested a hand on his shoulder trying to see if he was stable enough to continue on his own. He wasn't the type ot leave people to rot on the concrete even if there were awkward exchanges and such between them in some weird vision. It might be weird to actually even be confronting the person he hadn't really talked to at all but hey it's the way it is. There's nothing he can do about it.
Everything was a mess in the vision and Yuri didn't want to talk about it or bring it up. He certainly didn't think Albel wanted to either.
"You sound like a dead cat, here at least let me get you home."
He replied.
no subject
"I don't -- urgh..." Albel closed his eyes. Giving in would be weak. But... at this point he was starting to question how he'd make it home alright. He just hated accepting any help.
no subject
"If it helps, you don't have to think of me as a person-- maybe a crutch for you to get home. Seriously, you look like crap-- or do you want to fall over here and have more people stare at you and judge you?"
He's not going to stop obviously.
no subject
Yet.
Albel sighed. Clearly, Yuri wasn't going to leave him alone. And Albel hated to admit it, but maybe that wasn't a bad thing.
"You can... walk me home," he conceded with a grumpy sniffle. "But you need not carry me!" He was not a blushing bride.
no subject
"You know I never did say you were an invalid or anything. You're making assumptions from a kind gesture."
He sighs with a bit of exaggeration on the kind gesture. He's seriously just messing with Albel enough so the other would comply. Not to say he won't carry the other if he isn't able to move.
"Sounds like a plan. Glad you agree on the alternative of letting me help you."
Yuri laughs as he sets the other back down on the ground.
What you don't want to be a damsel in distress?no subject
Ugh, he could feel his ears getting arm.
"Do you always just other carry men around?" he muttered, embarrassed. He really must be sick, for Yuri to start lifting him so easily. Albel knew he was thin, but he was primarily muscle! And what if his sari had slipped, and he'd ended up exposed... So embarrassing.
no subject
He was clearly dripping with a lot of sarcasm as he said that to Albel but he doesn't care. Yuri was doing whatever he wanted as usual and that tone and mood wasn't going to change. Albel was taking his help and he was considering the whole ordeal accomplished on his end.
"Take it easy. You don't need to rush too fast."
He replied giving the other a few quick words of advice as he moved them along.
"Who knows? I honestly don't care about genders to be honest. If you're hurt, you're hurt and I'm going to lug your sorry ass back, even if it means carrying you like some sort of bride."
That's how he stood on the matte as Albel muttered to him. Of course, he'd take precautions and would have made sure that Albel wasn't flashing anyone. Trust him, he's pretty good at this stuff.
"What afraid to show off your legs or something? Yuri was also a lot stronger than he looked as well. He could lift quite a lot of weight, even men with muscles. He didn't make it a habit obviously.
no subject
He wasn't sure what to make of Yuri, and he was really uncertain of what to do next.
"You..." Albel pushed him lightly and managed a few more steps forward. "Don't be perverse."
no subject
Oh dear, Albel, you really shouldn't go to those places right now.
"Perverse? Me? Man, now you're just questioning my intentions. Can't say I blame you. Say you're pretty energetic for a sick guy.
He's going to chuckle and keep walking until they get to their destination. ]

Albel went to turn on Yuri, but of course it was a bad idea. The street spun, the lamps blurred, and he soon found himself flat on his rump. One aforementioned leg was bared to all.
"I... I'm...!" Albel coughed, his body shaking with each one. Energetic? He wasn't exactly trying to be, but he supposed it might look that way. It was more a stubborn refusal to show any sort of weakness. It didn't do much good, since refusing to rest as much as his body demanded meant that he was woozy and useless now. He just wanted to get home as quickly as possible, so he could be a wreck alone where no one could see him. Embarrassing.

He replied with a laugh at the other's words. The swordsman managed to keep a firm grasp on the other as he was hit with a dizzy spell. Okay, maybe jokes were a bit too much for Albel right now. He gives the other a slightly more serious look as he spoke.
"Alright, alright grumpy, let's get you to your house but you're going to have to let me know where it is since you know, I don't know."
He replies as he supports the other some more. Whatever Albel was trying to prove wasn't working with Yuri. All he saw was a sick individual who was in need of urgent care before anything else. He can be embarrassed but he had to keep going for real. Yuri wasn't going to have him pass out like this
no subject
"House B-11," he told his stubborn aide, finally leaning on Yuri. "It's toward the center of the district."
no subject
"Got it. Now, if you really feel bad then give me a heads up."
He'll probably carry Albel back if he gets any worse.
no subject
"No. Thank you." As far as thanks go, it was pretty frigid. But, Albel didn't shove Yuri away anymore, or grumble (in excess) over the help. He took it as graciously as he could... considering all, it was an accomplishment. And with Yuri's shoulder to hang onto, he could afford to be so stubborn. It was easier to walk with four legs than two.
The rest of the trip was pretty quiet, Albel having little else to say. But when they reached B-11 he paused. "Thank you," he said again with a little less hostility. "Now just do not tell anyone about it."
no subject
Yuri really didn't get why he was being so annoyed with such a thing. Then again, Yuri was almost the same when it came to asking for some kind of help. Without saying anymore, he keeps walking and shrugs off the comment without much hurt. The swordsman kept going on his merry way as he took simple enough steps for Albel to follow. It is very much easier if he would just let Yuri carry him but men and their prides right?
The vigilante had little to say as well until they finally made it to the door.
"Don't sweat it. I don't make it a habit to gossip, if that's what you're warning me about, Now let's get you to bed and a caretaker. There's no way I'm leaving you alone."
no subject
Albel was fine alone, he wanted to be alone in this state, why wouldn't Yuri leave him alone? Why did he have to be so damn heroic and invasive?
Why was he acting like Fayt?
Albel grit his teeth. He'd suffered this kindness long enough, this blow to his pride... The only way this could be worse was if Tsubomi was actually home and attempted to help. Two people wrestling him into bed? He blushed in spite of himself.
no subject
Yuri replied trying to understand why the guy was losing it even more at his comments. He was only saying what he thought would be best in their current situation. He didn't even get why he was flustered and embarrassed. Honestly, Yuri knows a thing or two about pride, but this really wasn't what he's used to.
The swordsman would leave him alone once he got him to proper bed, but Albel thinks otherwise.
"Yo, Albel, you still here?"
no subject
"Fine!" he barked, though it came out stuffy and hoarse. "Fine!"
Yuri wanted to meddle? Yuri wanted to help? Albel would make him take full responsibility for it then. That would show him...
What was he doing?
Oh, keys. He didn't bother fumbling with them, simply thrust them at Yuri to unlock his door.
no subject
"You want to tell me where your bedroom is?"
He mused before handing the keys back to Albel. Honestly, the other shouldn't be asking himself any of those questions because Yuri didn't have answers. He did things according to his own will and there weren't always reasons behind what he did. He just did them. Helping people-- strangers was what he did. It's how he lived and it's how he'd remain.
no subject
So... it might as well be Yuri. He might as well stop thinking about it so hard.
"Here," he muttered stuffily and sniffed, gesturing as they reached his door.
no subject
Yuri pushed open the door and made his way towards the bed. He then proceeded to slowly get the sick guy into the bed, shoes off and such before rolling the blankets on him. The room probably needed some fresh air and sunlight and Yuri would go for that too. Sorry, Albel but you're going to be stuck with him for a little bit longer.
"You should probably eat something warm, and stay in bed. There's some sort of remedies I know for illnesses."
