Event || Cluedo

Characters: Investigators and their witnesses.
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: 15th June - 30th June.
Summary: Catch-all log for the Cluedo Event. If you would like to pursue investigations and play out the fall-out of the Cluedo events, this is the post for you. Please refer to the second OOC Post for the setting and what there is to be played. Another Log will be posted at a later date to play the murders.

Among the gathered crowd is Kidd, frowning as she kneels in front of the grisly tableau. She had arrived in time to see....something, though she was still mulling over what or who it could have been. And then there was the matter of the wound. A small stab wound. Something akin in size to an Assassin's blade, but....no....it couldn't have been one of her own people, could it?

But now a crowd was gathering and all she could think was that she hoped her own blade wasn't showing at the moment.

"Ales..."

Any of the humans still around to look upon the scene and gasp in horror couldn't see the blade, but at Ales' angle, the tip was slightly visible. He knew that Mary kept weapons hidden on her person, and knowing that it was there helped him spot the telltale shine.

He approached the bodies, careful not to get so close as to step in blood, but close enough to see just where Mary was investigating. There was only one wound that was bleeding; this killing was deliberate and not the result of a drunken fight. Someone targeted these people.

"Do you know these two?" An assassin picked their targets for a reason.

Not far away, Ellie was pushing her way to the front to get a look at the bodies with her own eyes. She hadn't caught wind of the commotion before Ales had, but as soon as someone mentioned something about what must have been a midnight murder, she made a beeline straight for the crime scene.

When she caught her first glimpse of the two victims, her eyes narrowed, then tracked to a third blood spot. No one was lying there, but she had a feeling there was a third victim. If they weren't here, then either the body had been moved, or it was a Hero who had crystallized. She'd need to check the hospital.

She started to withdraw, but stopped when she recognized Ales's distinctive and diminutive form close by, and the assassin he was speaking to as well.

Now that was interesting.

Ellie hung back for now, watching the two closely. If Ales happened to notice her, she'd approach, but she wanted to see what he discovered on his own first.

KWEH! The loud call of a Chocobo forced part of the crowd to make way for the giant bird and it's rider. The moogle following just above them went green in the face and flew back down.

A voice soon followed and one that would be familiar to the heroes in the area. "Sorry everyone, please make way! I'm with Law Enforcement!" Saori said as she dismounted with her badge out. She happened to be on a quick morning patrol when she saw a mass of people and was sure she heard whispers about dead bodies.

"Now, I'm going to have to ask everyone to keep their distance from the crime scene. If anyone has seen or heard anything, please stay so that I can take down your statements. Your cooperation is much appreciated." After addressing the onlookers, she looked at her moogle who gave a nod. While Brigid went to immediately report this to HQ, Saori would have to contain the crime scene to the best of her abilities.

She was startled at first to see Mary and Ales there, but regained her composure and nodded in acknowledgement. The last thing she needed was a possible PR snag to possibly bar from further investigation. She knelt down and put her hands together for a brief moment to give her respects to the dead. "Our hands are full enough as it is with the Calamity. Damn this culprit. Mary, Ales, did either you happen to see the incident or know someone who might?"

Mary only had time to shake her head at Ales and mutter out a quick response. "No. Nobody I knew. And I only just got here, same as you."

As Saori entered the scene though the pirate's face paled. She could imagine what this looked like and while she was sure that Saori would believe her this was their first time meeting eachother in an official capacity such as this. Frankly Mary was quite glad that this WASN'T a botched Assassination.

Or at least she hoped it had nothing to do with the Assassins.

"I only saw a little. I arrived here too late to do anything. It was these two and Mister Curtiss. There was someone crouched over him but I couldn't see who it was and they fled before I could stop them." She frowned at glanced at the bodies. "I stopped to see if they were still alive but it was too late. They'd been stabbed. And something about the attack had left their clothes chilled to the touch." They were simply damp at this point.

She frowned, crouching down to look the bodies over once more, "An ice weapon perhaps?" That she was talking so cavalier about a magical weapon and not thinking it odd managed to make her think of it thusly for just a moment.

Ales poked at the bodies, confused as to why the killer would target two civilians. He had hoped that they were someone the Assassin's Guild needed to take out, but with Mary's answer, that was less likely, and the answer slipped out of his grasp. It might have involved personal vendettas, and the Heroes just happened to stumble into it.

He froze at the name. There was only one Curtiss he knew that would disappear after being stabbed.

"Someone must have targeted him, and these two were witnesses." Those poor saps. At least he didn't know them well enough to dwell on their passing. "If the bodies were cold, they might have used an ice spell to slow them down before killing them...."

He looked up at Saori. "I didn't see anything happen, but I'm worried that someone in this city didn't like Jade too much." That made no sense. Jade was a perfectly fine Hero, actively working to stop the Calamity and learn about the trust of this world. Why kill someone so helpful?

"Someone from the Cult of Narayana?"

Ellie hummed thoughtfully to herself. A weapon with the ice elemental attached to it was expensive. Ales seemed to have the right idea, it sounded like something the cult would attempt based on what little they knew about their plans so far. At least now she knew the identity of the third victim, saving her a trip to the hospital.

As Saori approached to start clearing out the crowds, Ellie decided to depart as well. Ales had this well in hand, and she needed to start seeking information from different sources. First she would need to stop by the blacksmith's shop and requisition a list of anyone who'd bought a blade with an ice crystal attached to it.

Second...and she hoped she didn't find any conclusive evidence...she'd need to check with her own brigands and make sure none of them had acted against her express orders not to harm civilians. They would face a harsh punishment if any of them were found guilty of this crime.

Ales was turned away from Ellie and didn't notice her silently sneak away. He thought of finding her and seeking answers, but he worried that he would come off as accusatory. There weren't many Assassins in the guild, narrowing down the list of suspects, and if it were a personal mission, Mary wouldn't know about it.

"Hopefully this is a one time incident..."

As if.
