Event || Cluedo

Characters: Investigators and their witnesses.
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: 15th June - 30th June.
Summary: Catch-all log for the Cluedo Event. If you would like to pursue investigations and play out the fall-out of the Cluedo events, this is the post for you. Please refer to the second OOC Post for the setting and what there is to be played. Another Log will be posted at a later date to play the murders.

[ The news of another murder spreads across the city like wildfire despite the late hour, so as soon as the crime scene has been properly secured, Ace rushes towards the police station. This time, he isn't returning empty-handed, possessing a piece of evidence unlike any they've come across, so far.

He has seen it happening with his own eyes.

The cadet isn't alone; Kidd walks into the station alongside him, but there's certainly something off about the way he refuses to as much as look at the assassin. His facial expression is that of complete solemnity as he directs his steps towards the investigators currently on duty. ]

I would like to give a witness statement regarding the murders which took place tonight.

[Sephiroth is in an adjoining room to the office in which the majority of the investigators work around the clock. At that moment debriefing and handing over shifts to the next small group of men that will be dispatched out into the streets of Aqures Ixen to support the local personnel in patrolling and enforcing the curfew.

It's probably not a good idea for him to consider how many hours he's pulled today. But at the very least news is traveling faster.

Coming out of the office as Ace and Kidd both walk into the vicinity, Sephiroth glances around to any other investigator who might also be still in the office and not yet at the latest crime scene. Before turning his full attention towards the two witnesses. One is hardly a first-timer.]

It's good that you've come forward so promptly, please- [He gestures to one of the emptier desks, where there are seats free, as Sephiroth himself looks around for someone to second this statement testimony.]

[ And for Ace, it feels rather strange to find yourself on the other side of the desk after so many months. Having had his share of often unsuccessful attempts at finding the truth hidden in between the lines, he knows to keep it concise. ]

Oh, it won't take long.

[ Maybe Sephiroth is pushing it a little bit too hard with the official attitude, given they both are more than familiar with the code of conduct - under such circumstances, however, he decides not to question it. This is where his role of a fellow investigator ends, and he will wait for the others if there's a need.. ]

I am not here to discuss the pieces of evidence. [ A beat. ] I have witnessed the murders.

[Seeing Ace walk in with Kidd and that stilted air around them, almost stopped Saori's heart. Without hesitation, she walked over to where the three were. Others can take care of the scene.]

Witnesses...? Alright. Let's get started. I can take down Kidd's statement, Sephiroth. We should question them separately. I'll take one of the rooms.

[As much as she wouldn't question the validity of a co-worker and Kidd, they needed to be sure both statements were without the others' influence. If there were contradictions however...]

[ And there's a reason for Saori to be worried, one she has yet to discover. To be honest, Ace wished to leave her out of this, given her... possible lack of objectivity when it came to Kidd. Needless to say, he's not at all surprised that she's the one volunteering.

The cadet exhales and then looks at Saori, his face blank. ]

A witness... and a suspect.

[ A short silence precedes the next words that leave his mouth. There is no backing out now that he's made such a serious claim. ]

If you're concerned about the contradictions, I can confirm that our accounts will be different. Let us proceed with the statements, then, for now - but by the time this is over, I will be forced to request that James Kidd is detained on a charge of murder.

[As Ace says the word suspect, perhaps it's not-exactly fair the way that his gaze snaps immediately to Kidd; there has been a lot of suspicion around her and while he knows little of the shady dealings she involves herself with, he's not so naive as to not have some idea about them. He's even assisted with a questionable delivery not so long ago.

She's been present at three-out-of-four scenes thus far. Which in turn draws concerns over the objectivity of the entire law enforcement force, in the fact she hasn't already been detained. There had been a statement, he knew, he'd read but-]

That's a bold statement.

[Obviously-

Sephiroth carefully looks over Saori and then finally back to Ace; sharply looking over the man with partly narrowed eyes, he's not the most-rested and now he needs to focus and not let any detail slip. At least, if Saori were to take Kidd to another room and he were to interview Ace in plain sight, then if Kidd decided to try to bolt then she'd have to get passed them first. Not to mention whoever else might be milling around the main office area.

Not that taking statements is really in Sephiroth's repertoire, at all.]

Well then, we should get started.

[It's not his desk, but there is paper and pens within reaching distance, and no one else is sat there so it'd be fit for purpose for now. Sephiroth steps around the other side of the desk and starts to head up a paper with the date and time-]

Would you like some water?

[ Since mystery fuels distrust, there are always those who would fall under the shadow of suspicion regardless of their involvement. Perhaps it was for that reason that Ace has been hesitant to pass judgements in regards to their prime witness; Kidd had been nothing but cooperative as far as he was concerned, nor was it unlike the assassin to spot certain things ahead of others.

Even now, he finds no satisfaction in knowing the truth, not with so many more questions still lingering in the air. Following a moment of hesitation, he takes a seat, leaving it to Saori to take care of the investigation on her end. Unlike Sephiroth, Ace isn't at all concerned about the possibility of an escape - it's Kidd's delusional reasoning that continues to gnaw away at his mind.

He lifts his head at the question. So, they're really going to do this by the book, aren't they? ]

No, I'm fine.

[ Without further ado, he decides to start from the beginning. ]

The crime occured in the Twelfth District. The names of the victims in question are Rikku and Alice Liddell.

[It really shouldn't be all that much of a surprise. To Sephiroth, especially considering how rushed off their feet a lot of those working on the case are, going by the book is more important than ever. Any small detail overlooked...any question not asked could have dire consequences. Undoubtedly there are more lives on the line and not just the temporary death that Heroes of Light enjoy. Especially if Alice's theory she'd given him about trying to find some other way to permanently end Heroes' lives were really one of the motives behind all of it...and now Alice was killed too?

There is no way of knowing if the next murder might be the one that cinches it.

Ace's name is stated also on the top of the paper and Sephiroth starts his first bullet point. His left-handed scrawl isn't really large enough to be legible from across the table though.]

Alright. So do you have any idea at about what time the crime was committed?

[Attention to detail, much?]
