[She sighs and caps the pen.]

The more I look at the crime scenes, the more it seems likely we're dealing with more than one killer...

[Which just makes everything that much harder.]

Everyone is spending so much time focusing on which jobs they could have used, but it seems like no two jobs would offer everything they needed. If they had an accomplice though, that's four jobs, and potentially two advanced jobs. That would be enough.

[The snap of the pen being capped seems to dictate the way that Sephiroth blinks and looks away around them again, as if putting a cap on his own sometimes overbearing attentiveness towards others. Was it all innocent til proven guilty, or the other way around which should be the logical thought train here?]

It certainly seems to make sense for there to be more than one culprit, either that or we're dealing with a highly skilled wielder of several jobs who probably had a job switch implemented as part of his -or her- plan.

[That latter concept is enough to make any of them shudder; is there someone among them who could be so coldly calculative?]

...if it's even a Hero of Light, and not some other type of foe we've yet to encounter. I dislike either possibility, as I'm sure you do too.

I think the first thing is more likely. Quickly switching out jobs requires you to have the Bard job, right? So the most one person could get out of it is the benefit of three jobs. And one of them has to be Bard.

[She shrugs.]

Honestly, I'm less worried about how they did it than why they did it. Why target heroes of light? They have to know that we'll crystallize and revive. That's common knowledge...

[She frowns as a very unpleasant thought occurs to her. No, that's crazy...]

Switching from Job set A to Job set B only requires a Moogle to perform the deed. The melody available to Bard removes the two-week downtime; but that doesn't rule out the possibility of Bard being the secondary job in all of these incidents...

[Damn this overthinking; the possibilities truly could be endless. Sephiroth frowns further, though resists the urge to close-in and fold his arms, as Alice drops off her own sentence.]

Dare I ask for your thought?

[When Heroes die, they crystallize and revive in order to protect the Planet from the Calamity; at least so far as Sephiroth is aware. It tastes bitter to think of anyone who might use that to further some other agenda-]

Well... this is probably just me being pessimistic. I always seem to come up with the worst case scenario first.

[Alice knows she's gloomy by nature. And there's a good chance she's over thinking this. But since he asked...]

But... a different method is being used for each murder. What if... what if whoever is doing this is trying all these different things for a reason? What if they're trying to come up with a way to kill us permanently?

[Sephiroth nods smally.]

Plan for the worst, and the best-case becomes a bonus.

[Not too far off how he also perceives the world. Though he's recently trying to be less doom-n-gloom, not least to enjoy those stars in the nighttime sky of the rest of his life, Sephiroth will have to go a lot further before he could be considered in any way an optimist.]

By experimenting with anything that might work? [Cue raised eyebrow; not so convinced by the suggestion alone.]

They must be desperate to find it, if that's the case. Making such a mess out of it and going so far to slaughter any civilian who might happen to pass by as well...

[Lets try and brainstorm this a little though...no theory is not worth hearing.]

Maybe they there's some sort of internal logic to it...

[She pulls out her little note book and opens it, flipping through the pages.]

Some people have suggested a connection between the methods. That is, they all use a different element so far. Considering how important elemental crystals are in this world, they might be onto something.

What if they have some sort of partial method, something that involves elements and they're testing different elements to see what works?

Hm.

[As Alice slips through her notebook, Sephiroth looks down to the edge of the roof from where Jack had to have been pushed and thinks back on the information he -does- know.]

You mean, like opposite elements, maybe?

[Jade had been attacked by something-ice magic associated. Sephiroth knew that Jade, much like the majority of the Heroes, had been brought to Crystallis by the Crystal of Fire so that piece fitted well enough...but what element could possibly be the theme of the crime scene they were stood in. Earth, air...wind?

Sephiroth looks a little like he's physically chewing on the theory as he looks back up to Alice.]
