After what felt like an eternity but was probably only a couple of heartbeats, Sorey turned to face the two seraphs. Both hands are clenched tightly at his sides and even though he's attempting to keep a neutral expression, it's obvious that guilt and sorrow laid underneath. Even so, he looked straight at Edna - his eyes meeting with her without even the slightest flicker to look at Mikleo.
"I'm sorry, Edna. I thought that if we searched we could find another way." A way that would save him that didn't involve killing him. Sorey has failed to keep his promise and now there was no other choice.
Only after that does his eyes shift to look at Mikleo and that doesn't feel right either - his words. They all know what's necessary. Edna's known it longer then him but went along with his plan to search for a different way.
"Do what you're ready for," Sorey felt the need to correct Mikleo's words. If she wasn't ready they would walk back down the mountain and find an inn to stay at - travel around some more - anything. And if she was... they would continue up until they met with Eizen. Sorey is prepared for the task but it's not his brother they were going to fight and kill.
the more people to bear witness to her pain?
