Babysitting Weapons of Mass Destruction

WHO: Lust, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ira, Sheena Fujibayashi, Vincent Valentine, Selphie Tilmitt
WHAT: Cid has assigned various heroes to guard the remains of the Ultima WEAPON that were salvaged after their battle. Suspicious people try to sneak close, but they fail to be caught.
WHEN: September 11th - 13th
WHERE: Aqures Ixen - 12th District


Here sat the broken pieces of the enormous machine known as the Ultima WEAPON. The Heroes had gone through a lot of trouble to secure it, and even more trouble to subdue it. Now it sat sadly in a heap of wreckage at the airship ports, with few visitors save the occasional Hypello or dock rat.

This was what the Heroes had to guard. Prepare for boredom.

[Selphie's done the whole guard duty thing in the past but never over something that had almost killed her a couple of times. It's a boring task and one that Selphie is happy to do even if it's one of the most boring things in the world.]

Hmmmm...

[She eventually settles herself on part of the arm and scowls at the remains of the turret that had almost taken her out of the battle entirely.]

Cid must have a sick sense of humor...

[Doesn't mean it isn't boring as the Underworld on a slow day, though.]

[Selphie smiled at her fellow guard. She knew her fair chunk of the other heroes but she'd never encountered Ira before.]

Yeah, it makes sense. Besides, I'm pretty sure that the military has already salvaged all the usable parts already. The rest of the WEAPON is just scrap.

You'd think that...

[He tries to smile back, but it falls flat, thanks to the last word she said.]

...but any smith worth his salt could probably use what remains for something else.

[Selphie hadn't gotten that far ahead in her thoughts about what to do with the remains of the WEAPON. She chuckled a bit out of embarrassment before agreeing with Ira.]

I... hadn't thought of that yet but that's a pretty good idea actually. If the bigwigs would let us use this stuff for armour or weapons, we'd be better equipped for dealing with what lies ahead.

Has anybody asked about that?

No idea. Know I haven't, but that's because I don't really have Blacksmith.

I don't either but hey, it doesn't mean that we couldn't ask around about one.

[Selphie pats the arm that she's sitting on.]

Just think of all the weapons and shields and armour this could make if we could just put it to better use...

[A rustle is heard nearby.

Selphie's eyes dart to the left quickly before she's up on her feet and walking slowly toward the noise.]

Did you hear that?

[His eyes follow the sound of footsteps, though he kept himself still.]

Shh.

[Of all the times he wished he had his ability to smell the darkness in others, right now would be useful. Instead, he tries to follow the approach with his hearing as he decides to gamble it. Waving with his left in a false farewell, he adds:]

Perhaps I'll write a letter about it when I get home, then.

[Don't mind him, walking away... and slightly closer to the direction of the sound.]

[Selphie nodded and tilted her head in the opposite direction, indicating that she planned on moving around in the opposite direction. If there was anyone lurking around in the ruins on the WEAPON when they weren't supposed to be, a flank attack may catch them in the act.

She waved back at Ira.]

I'll back you up if anyone argues the fact.

[Selphie heads in the opposite direction, silently pulling her nunchaku out of its holster in the process.]

[ Sheena looks at her new partner incredulously. ]

You honestly think he has one?

[ She nods to the machine. ]

Though, with someone having disappeared during the battle, it makes sense. They may want it back.

[Selphie shrugs her shoulders.]

Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows?

[She scowls at the remains of the WEAPON.]

Pretty sure they've removed anything important by now. But yeah... we didn't get Palitutu's goobers did we?

[ Sheena chuckles as she shakes her head. ]

I don't think he does. Or... [ She recalls a conversation she had a while ago. ] He used to and it disappeared a long time ago.

[ Say 28 years ago?

She follows her gaze. ]

I don't know. I've seen people lurking around, trying to get to this thing. Wouldn't that mean there's something important here?
