Babysitting Weapons of Mass Destruction

WHO: Lust, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ira, Sheena Fujibayashi, Vincent Valentine, Selphie Tilmitt
WHAT: Cid has assigned various heroes to guard the remains of the Ultima WEAPON that were salvaged after their battle. Suspicious people try to sneak close, but they fail to be caught.
WHEN: September 11th - 13th
WHERE: Aqures Ixen - 12th District


Here sat the broken pieces of the enormous machine known as the Ultima WEAPON. The Heroes had gone through a lot of trouble to secure it, and even more trouble to subdue it. Now it sat sadly in a heap of wreckage at the airship ports, with few visitors save the occasional Hypello or dock rat.

This was what the Heroes had to guard. Prepare for boredom.

[So polite~ She still doesn't know much about the man, but she knows he's capable in a fight, and she can be satisfied with that. The real Lust watches him with mild interest when he chooses to slip into invisibility and patrol, wondering what it is he's looking for, but in general, the time passes peacefully.]

[When it seems like dawn has begun, the Lust sitting on the armor arches her back and stretches herself.]

What did you ask Cid for?

[Silence and watches weren't unusual, and the only difference between this and Vincent's occasional nights awake with insomnia were that he had to remain 'more' alert. This didn't bother him really, and part of why he'd been glad to partner with Lust for the time. If there was conversation, it would be interesting conversation, from their interactions before.]

What did you?

[A pause, then.]

Archer.

[She almost sighs, since she has no idea why the requests made to Cid are treated like such confidential secrets. But then he answers her, and she relaxes with a casual smile.]

Interesting. I wonder how well that would pair with the Gunner job.

[As for herself? She lays her fingertips against her chest, just above the homunculus tattoo.]

Black Mage. Why Archer, though?

[From all that Vincent could tell, while Archer paired with gunner did not lead to any interesting 'advanced jobs', it paired well enough--especially if mastered. So that was part of his reasoning...]

It's close enough to Gunner in some ways if I decide to pair it with another job, and I do have some experience in it.

[Even if not as much as with firearms.]

Why did you request Black mage?

If your aim is as sharp as it is with the guns you bear, I doubt you'll have much difficulty mastering the job.

[She smiles, shrugging her shoulders faintly.]

I like the color~

[Now she's just being facetious.]

There's also the matter of needing something useful to pair with a White Mage's functions. Combining the two will give me the power of a Sage.

[Then next time she won't have to plead with that stubborn fool of a scientist to preserve the people she finds useful to her plans.]

[A tilt of his head in acknowledgement and silent thanks to the compliment.]

My aim, and my familiarity with firearms, is independent of the jobs I wield.
Time and experience mastering it will be the harder part.

[But it didn't mean he wasn't appreciative of the compliment. Especially since Lust did not seem the type to give them for no reason.]

Given your quest to understand humanity, there is a hint of irony in your becoming a sage. I wish you luck regardless.

Irony? How so?

[He had her curiosity now, since 'sages' weren't really the sort of title anyone in her world held, outside of fictional accounts. Perhaps sages performed a certain role she wasn't yet aware of. She watches him with a calm half-smirk, both her illusion and her real self.]

Sages are often believed to hold great wisdom and insight into humanity and it's foibles and problems. They are often sought during existential crises.

[Vincent is untroubled by the half-smirk, and maintains his own quiet and calm demeanor.]

Is that really so far from the truth?

[She chuckles.]

A pity I can only understand the darker motivations and intent of mankind. Perhaps time will allow me to comprehend the rest as well.
