Intro Log || Just in Time for the Last Holiday Season
Characters: All the "Heroes of Light" (only new characters can start threads).
Where: Aqures Ixen.
When: November 01st - November 30th. New characters may wake up any time.
Summary: The new Heroes of Light awaken from Crystal Stasis and might find themselves in quite the predicament. Are they in Aqures Ixen, the Desert, a Forest or a completely empty plain? The choice is yours! You can have your character wake up anywhere, so long as the location is neither crystallized nor sealed away (such as the Temple of the Heroes of Light).
Please refer to the Information Post for more information regarding the state of Crystallis. Fear not however as soon a Moogle and maybe your friends shall come to you. Indeed, Heroes of Light in Aqures Ixen have access to a map that show them whenever a new Hero of Light appears. The Moogles are using it to quickly find any newcomers, but nothing prevents other Heroes of Light from using it to go to the rescue! The exception to this are characters who were formerly in the game: they will wake up from Crystal Stasis in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen.
Furthermore, feel free to plot out with players already in-game if you want for them to come and search your character, find them and plot their escape from a particularly dangerous place and the likes!
Warning: N/A.

Where you were or what you were doing— It does not really matter. Not any more. Within an instant, the world around you collapses. Reality twists and shatters... Or maybe you are the one who is collapsing and shattering away from reality as you knew it. No matter what the answer is, it will only take a few seconds for you to find yourself sinking into a void, your world vanishing into the distance. There is nothing but darkness as far as the eye can see. Even you feel different: all the powers you might once have had, are now gone. It is silent, cold and it feels as though life itself is slipping out of you.
At this moment, when it looks as though nothing but a never-ending void awaits you, a red Crystal forms before you. In this void, its warmth compels you to grab it. But soon it faded, and everything else along with it, nothing but darkness remaining....
The Search for the Heroes
— Anytime —
To you, it's like only a second passed ever since you grabbed this crystal. But months or even years may have passed in the real world. And as you emerge, you find yourself in the world of Crystallis, a place where magic and technology coexist, filled with friendly people... And not so friendly ones. Have you awakened in Aqures Ixen, Esdham or a similar city...? Then it's perfect, you are surrounded by friendly people who will be - very confused - but helpful to an extent.
Have you woken up in the wilderness? Hopefully there aren't too many monsters around! As it is, other Heroes of Light might have woken up close to your position, it might be a good idea to work together with them.
Thankfully enough, before long a fluffy ball of fur flies toward (and most crashes into) you! This creature is a Moogle, sent from Mognet Central to assist you and take you to Aqures Ixen. It will explain you everything about the situation, the other Heroes of Light already present in Crystallis and all that is happening! This Moogle will be your guide back to Aqures Ixen-- If you decide to follow them anyway...
The Voyage Home
— Anytime —
The journey to Aqures Ixen might be an eventful one (or uneventful one if you awoke in the city already). It is a possibility for you to explore the world by taking your time, or to be lazy and board an Airship in the closest city. Don't lose your way or you risk venturing close to the Calamity-- You wouldn't want to be devoured and ripped apart my mega-powered Calamity Monsters, would you?
And thanks to the map and the efficiency of Mognet, odds are you'll encounter other Heroes of Light on your way: those who arrived in this world within the past two years. You may have imagined heroic and charismatic figures when your Moogle told you that there were other Heroes of Light in this city. You may have imagined persons with fearsome powers when they told you about how they managed to push back the Empire and defeat the fearsome Palitutu! And more importantly, you may have imagined them as people who would have all the answers to your, doubtlessly, numerous questions.
If so, you may be up for a tragic disappointment. Still, for the most part they know more than you on the situation and may be more than happy to fill you in, especially if your Moogle didn't tell you much.
The City of Aqures Ixen
— Anytime —
Finally, you might reach Aqures Ixen... And it turns out to be a very busy city. You might visit it, or the laboratory from where you canspy track where Heroes of Light are. Indeed, Palitutu's Laboratory (and its underground section) is a place where employed characters can research various topics. Most importantly, characters can see a file with their name...
Should your character decide to go there and peek at their file, there are two possibilities. Either the file is corrupted and they cannot access it: too bad for them, but at least their life will remain a mystery. Or should you decide the file isn't corrupted, they will find a summary of their lives up to their canon point, as if written by a third-person omniscient narrator. On the column left to the text, to the top there is a portrait of them, and beneath it there is a 3D model of them. Said portrait and model can be switched to any year of their life. At the bottom there is a percentage, indicating 0%. On the right column, there are various links, most of which are grayed out. The clickable links lead to their Homeworld History and their future post-canon point history (corrupted file for unfinished canons). At least, they can lock this file away if they don't want anyone to see it.
Or maybe you could visit your new house in the 11th or 14th District, and get to know your new neighbors and housemate(s). Hopefully your neighbors are people you will get along with.
It's Never Too Early
— Anytime —
No matter where you wake up in this world, from the arid climate of Esdham to the balmy jungles of Mysidia, you might notice a hint of ~**Christmas Whimsy**~ in the air. Pine-scented garlands are wound about streetlamps, delicate glass ornaments and twinkling lights have begun to adorn tree branches. The air is rich with the smell of baked pumpkin and cinnamon, and the occasional cool hint of peppermint. The bakeries are filled with seasonal treats like kupo nut pies, cranberry tarts, eggnog cakes. Though it's only the month of November, anyone complaining about the good cheer and pretty decorations will be stared at with a mixture of shock and pity, for clearly these people do not understand the true magic of the season.
Wherever you go, there's a distinct and rhythmic clanging of a small brass bell. Following the sound of the bell inevitably leads to a small adorable Moogle decked out in a fur-trimmed red suit standing next to a donations pot, with another clad in green passing out fliers inviting people to visit the Santa Village. They're requesting gil to craft toys for the refugees living there as well as the children across the world, and to expand and improve the Village as well.
Upon seeing any indication that you might be a Hero of Light, both Moogles make a happy sound and immediately press a flyer into your hand, insisting that you must visit, and not so subtly hinting that those who take up the Santa Claus job would be warmly welcomed by everyone. 'Tis the season, eh? Eh?
The Hospital
— Anytime —
Characters who have already been in Crystallis before do not wake up anywhere like everyone else. Instead, they will wake up in the Hospital of Aqures Ixen, in a room where there are over a hundred other Heroes of Light like them-- Maybe even some familiar faces... Except they're all in Crystal Stasis.
A couple Moogles and a few nurses will be waiting by the room, and they will welcome all characters waking up. Upon exiting the room, they will also meet a lot of guards, and they all have orders to shoot anyone that comes out of this room without a Moogle. Hopefully you won't try running out without waiting for your Moogle. As for why the guards are so on edge, it might be a good idea to ask the other Heroes of Light about what happened last year.

[The new voice startles more of the chocobos away, a sea of yellow feathers parting until Naminé is revealed on the other side. It's clearly not his Naminé. She's still wearing that white dress, and her left eye is still a clear ocean blue. But it's a Naminé, one whose troubled expression only gets more alarmed when she gets a good look at him. All the things she'd been about to say-- it's good to see you again, I don't know where we are, why couldn't I sense your presence just now, Sora my chest hurts-- all of it dies on her tongue.
What memories would she see, if she still had her powers, if she had reason to sort through them one more time? The boy smiling at Kairi on the beach just a few minutes ago...what happened that the man in front of her now is who that boy had become? She isn't sure she wants to know. But at the same time there's the undeniable feeling of needing to know. To take his heart between her hands and fix it once again, so that he can return to the life he'd been fighting so long for.
She can't know what he's been through, can't know what to fix. Doesn't even know if he remembers her properly. But she can try to mend what little bits of him she can. Naminé would devote whatever second life she has right now to that, to this Sora.
She lets out a soft sound, and new heart breaking, holds out her hands to him.]
It's good to see you again.
no subject
Even though she isn't the one he expected to see, Sora is still glad to see her. So he gives her a smile, not touching on the alarm that had been so evident on her face. Sometimes he wonders what he looks like to the different versions of his friends. Someone thinner, paler, still muscled and with brown spikes that defy gravity and blue eyes that are deep as the sky. But there's also a weariness that rests upon his shoulders sometimes, a grief that sometimes feels like it's hollowed him out inside. He's always careful to cover the scars he's collected, to prevent others from blaming themselves for the ones they couldn't stop from happening. To stop himself from constantly looking at them and remembering how he'd gotten each and every single one of them.
From here Sora can see the questions she doesn't ask. Doesn't offer any answers to them just yet because he's gotten used to carrying them so close and not telling others about them. It hurts to share - both him and the one he shares with. Not that keeping it all for himself didn't hurt too.
The Naminé standing before doesn't know all of the memories he holds, not yet. He'd never had to share all those things with her like he did with other people. Always she knew what lay in his head and his heart. It almost hurts that she doesn't now but Sora doesn't blame her for it. Actually he's a little bit grateful because all he can think about is that room where it was kill or be killed. The jailers had sent so many of the people he loved into that room - copies of them, he's sure but it hadn't made the pain any less.
It's only when Naminé speaks that he realizes that he's just been standing there, staring at her without really seeing her. The smile that's still on his face has probably gone wrong - a mere shadow of what it should be. Without hesitation Sora crosses over to her, instantly enfolding her in his arms for a hug.]
I'm glad to see you too. [His words are genuine because he is, without a shadow of a doubt, happy to see those he cares about. Sora holds her as if she is the most precious thing in the world right now. (And she is to him.) He holds her as if embracing a sibling he hasn't seen in forever but loved immensely.]
no subject
Naminé can't sense the warmth of his light like she used to, though, and that is unnerving. Not just because it makes her wonder what took her powers away, and not just because that sleepy but fire-bright presence was what got her through many long nights of repairing his memories-- but also because it feels like a part of her is disconnected to him. She never liked her powers, but it was still a tiny link to him, proof that she existed, that she was a part of his life, even if he forgot. It's disorienting, being...normal.
She leans into the hug all the same, hooking her chin on his shoulder. Naminé won't let go until he does. He likely needs this more than she knows. At least, that's what she thinks. She doesn't want to be presumptuous, not after everything he's clearly gone through. But since Kairi isn't here, Naminé thinks she would want her to do her best to cheer him up in her place. And of course, Naminé genuinely wants to do that herself, too. It's the least she can do, after everything Sora has done for her.
Cheer him up without mentioning anything about what he may or may not have gone through, though-- it's a daunting task, if his earlier, hollow smile was anything to go by. And never before has Naminé been so lacking in knowledge about him. She's determined, though. One real Sora smile a day! That will be her new goal.
It also keeps her mind off the other things about herself that she's worrying about, at least for now.]
I wasn't expecting to meet you again in a middle of a farm, but here we are. Should we go exploring?
no subject
This hug isn't just about him. He needs it, definitely, but Sora can also imagine what this is like for her. No matter what point she came from being here is Naminé's chance - a chance to live a life that all her own. She will always be connected to him and Kairi but there was no one hanging over her shoulder waiting for her to complete what she was expected to do. If possible she could live out the rest of her life in this world as her own person and not have worry about reuniting with Kairi. This is the start of her story.
Sora keeps hugging her for a long time, long enough for the chocobos to settle after being disturbed by their arrival. Then he pulls back only to allow his hands to rest on her shoulders. This time the smile he gives her is big and bright - reminiscent of the Sora she was more familiar with.
Goal accomplished for the day. Congrats!]
Neither was I. Why do we always meet in the strangest places? [It's a light joke. He nods at her question and turns to look out at the giant birds.] Well, we're on a chocobo farm. Cloud's world has a chocobo farm but this one doesn't quite look like it.
[This he can do. Sora can talk about the good or weird parts of what he's been through without drowning in the rest of it. This is what he has to offer in a way of a explanation.] I spent a week thinking I was Cloud who thought he was someone else. It was a very confusing week.
no subject
His explanation has her glancing towards what she presumes the chocobos to be, those big yellow birds that had been roosting around her when she'd sat up. They hadn't bothered her as much as they had Sora, but she's admittedly a little intimidated by their size. Pluto had been a calm, medium-sized dog. These birds...not so calm, and not so medium-sized.
Naminé lets out a soft laugh.]
Oh no. And here I thought your memories would be--
[Oh. She covers her mouth with her hands, her gaze darting away. She completely forgot she shouldn't mention things like that. She won't allow for any chance that his memories from Castle Oblivion might be triggered. That, and it's habit, now, to keep quiet about her powers. Of course, he's clearly the exception, because it's so easy, easier than she thought it would be, to finally talk with him face to face.]
I mean-- you definitely have the hair to be mistaken for Cloud, though the color is different.
no subject
Sora notices the nervous looks she gives the chocobos and moves over to the nearest one, approaching cautiously. The chocobo allows it and he reaches up to pet the long necks.] It's alright. The ones here are pretty tame. Any you find in the wild are the ones you gotta be careful around.
[The smile this time is not like the one before - it's softer, accepting whatever it is that's yet unsaid.]
Fixed, right? It's okay, I already know. Don't remember but I know about Castle Oblivion. [Now is when Sora gives all of his attention to the chocobo, petting it until it makes loud 'kwees'.] I spent some time in this place - more a ship than an actual world - and it allowed me to meet people I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. Roxas, Riku's Replica... Xion. Plus some of the Organization members I forgot during my time in Castle Oblivion. [Some who weren't downright terrible to him in the Facility.] But anyway, I'm okay. You did a good job fixing me up.
[Twice actually because he had remembered Castle Oblivion in part because Skrull!Nami had messed up his head. He doesn't mention that part.] The people who ran the ship had an ability like yours, they could change our memories and did -- usually for only a week at a time.
[He looks back at her now, shrugging casually.] That's how I got memories of Cloud's world.
[The comment about his hair has him laughing lightly and reaching up to tug on it.] Yeah well it definitely has his spikiness. And admittedly the guy Cloud thought he was had black hair so I never really noticed the difference.
no subject
I'm glad you were able to meet them. And I'm so glad everything worked out. I could only assume, when I finished, that everything was okay.
[It's not like DiZ gave her a lot of time to double check before she had to run away from him.
The tidbits about where he was before are as equally compelling as everything else, and makes her wonder what, exactly, is powerful enough to be able to change an entire group of people's memories. It was tiring work for her in the past, when she'd changed Sora's memories on the spot in Castle Oblivion. Whatever force Sora had encountered before, and whatever force had brought them here-- it wasn't something to be dealt with lightly.]
Silly. [Her voice is gentle, the tease making the corners of her lips curve up a little. A long time ago, something like this would've been unthinkable, but now it seems natural.] But I don't blame you, memories are messy things.
[She finally stands up, very much in need of a stretch. Something about having a new heart must have changed her balance, because she needs to reach out and steady herself with their chocobo friend in the face of a wave of dizziness. Hm, maybe she should tell him about that.]
Luckily your memories are safe now! From me, at least. Since I...don't seem to have those powers anymore.
no subject
He smiles fondly.] Me too. I got the opportunity to get to know them all. We were like family. [You too is what he doesn't say - not yet because that just brings up more questions he isn't ready to answer yet.] Yeah, you did a good job.
[Not that... he would know if any of his memories were missing or changed?] I trust you.
[There, that's better. No one Sora would trust more with his memories than Naminé and that's even after three years of having them altered all the time by the Doctors and robots. After all, he hadn't hesitated to step into the pod to have her fix it after it had been messed up.
A nod of his head.] They really are. Gotta really trust someone to go poking around inside your memories.
[He looks over at her when she loses her balance and frown in worry. Just about when he's about to ask if she's okay, Naminé says something first.]
You don't? [Sora steps back from the chocobo and holds out his right hand - attempting to summon the Keyblade only to have it fail spectacularly. Not entirely usual but after that he does raise a hand to probe at his neck, then his ear. Nope, no collar or earpiece to block his powers.] This isn't good.
[Then he jogs to the edge of the pen, leaning over the fence so that his actions won't scare the chocobos.] Freeze!
[As per usual ice forms but it's not as powerful as it usually is. He looks down at his hand.] Well, at least we're not completely defenseless.
no subject
As things are now, she's just trying not to fall flat on her face at his feet. Their chocobo friend is so kind as to not move while she leans on him, so she takes her time, closing her eyes and taking slow breaths. Because her powers are gone, she can't sense him trying to summon the Keyblade anymore, can only hear the failed attempt instead. It's incredibly disconcerting.
Even more so when Sora remarks on it. If he's saying that something isn't good, it definitely means they're in trouble.
Naminé opens her eyes just in time to see him shoot off a tiny Blizzard spell. It's nowhere near the power behind what he was capable before, which only adds to her worry. While it appears that they're on a farm, there's no guarantee of any civilization being close by. Sora can't possibly protect the both of them with so little magic...isn't there something she can do to help?
The strange flutter inside her chest that she'd assumed had been her new heart-- it trembles now, rising up like a tidal wave. She furrows her brows as she steps away from the chocobo, stepping up next to her friend and mimics him, stretching an arm out. Letting the energy do what it wanted to do.
Ice shoots forth from the air in front of her, then crackles and dissipates. Curious. She'd been capable of some basic elemental magic before, but this feels different from that. More...out of her control. Naminé shakes her head.]
It's not the same. I wasn't consciously forming ice magic, I just directed the energy inside me. But at least this way I can help, too.
no subject
While he's pleased that he still has some magic, Sora also doesn't know what they'll find out there. They will have to leave the farm eventually and there could be monsters between here and there. It also isn't the first time that Sora's not had all of his usual powers, though he's not sure why this time.
He watches as Naminé uses an ice spell of her own, nodding after it happens. Good, this is even better. They can work with this. She can protect herself if Sora happens to get distracted by another monster. Of course he intends to be the one in the thick of things but she can watch his back and offer support. Eventually they'll figure out what's going on here, for now though, they should get moving.]
There has to be someone running this farm. Maybe they can tell us where the nearest city is. Guess it'd be too much to hope that they'd let us borrow a chocobo without any munny.
[Sora turns to look at the little house that's near the pen.]
no subject
[But she's doubtful too, and walks away from the fence to try and get a better first look of the surrounding area. Thankfully, it's nearly all grassy fields and hills as far as the eye can see. If they do have to walk, it will be kind to her feet, which are still in sandals. Her white dress is hardly made for a trek through potentially monster-infested lands either. She's going to find a way to buy new clothes as soon as they reach the city.
And speaking of which...]
Sora, I think I can see it from here.
[Just beyond the distant hills is a tall, definitely man-made spire, rising above the tree line. Something that big can only mean people. Unless it's abandoned, which it hopefully isn't.]
We must be close. What should we do?
[She's glad that she'll have a way to help him in a fight, but ultimately anything like this is way beyond her capabilities. Later, when they discover everything about this world, she'll watch him more closely to learn from him. But for now, she feels more comfortable letting him take the lead.]
no subject
[He knows they'd both feel bad if they attempted to send the animal back on it's own but it ran away or got hurt in the process. Maybe if someone from the farm went along with them and then lead their chocobo back but then someone would be going out of their way.
But she isn't dressed for walking long distances. It might be their only option.
At her words, Sora looks where she is.]
That doesn't seem so far away. [The area between here and there looks relatively flat too. If they're lucky they wouldn't run into some big nasty monsters.
He turns his attention to her.]
What do you think? We could try asking for a lift and offer to do a little work in exchange or we could head out and gain some experiencing fighting some monsters on the way?
[Sora already knows what he'd pick - magic he can definitely use like a pro and he's used to traveling long distances on foot so the second option is pretty much what he'd pick. But it's not just him here. Plus...]
You know, if you want to ride a chocobo at some point - we could always just come back. [He grins at that.]

[But! There is work to do. For her, there's no doubt which she'll choose. Half of her comes from Sora, after all, and considering the life she'd been taken from? She'd much rather go out exploring and see everything this world has to offer than do chores. Even if there's the possibility of encountering monsters.
Naminé gives a nearby baby chocobo a few pets over its downy feathers before dusting off her dress.]
Let's walk to the city right now. It'd be better if I practice using these new powers sooner than later, right? And since you're here, I can ask you questions. I have to get all the pointers I can before you head off to help the locals.
[She shoots him a tiny, fond smile as she pushes open the gate to leave the pen.]

[Sora is sure they can handle any monster that comes their way, even if that means they have to run away from it because it's too strong. There's no shame in knowing when to flee from a fight because they'd rather not end up squished or eaten.
When she's made her choice, he nods in approval. This is an opportunity for her to explore a new world - for him too but mostly her. As far as he knows Naminé has only ever visited three personally and he doubts there was a whole lot to see inside Castle Oblivion.]
Alright! I will definitely do my best to help you. Unfortunately I don't have any magical furniture with me so we can't do this the way Merlin taught me magic so the monsters will just have to do.
[He says it cheerfully, following her out of the pen and making sure that the gate is fully closed behind them. One of the chocobos had trailed after him and as he was doing it, it takes the opportunity to attempt to eat his hair.]
Hey, stop that! [It comes out with a laugh.]

Not even in your magical, bottomless pockets? That's too bad.
[She turns when she hears his exclamation, a bright smile flashing across her face. What a cheerful scene...she'll have to remember this later for when she can get a sketchbook, to draw it and keep it as a memory. Naminé reaches out to lightly pat the chocobo's beak.]
Sora's hair isn't for eating! [Even if it looks like brown spikes of grass.] Let go of him, please.
