RUINS RUINS RUINS!!!
Who: Mikleo, Hisui Hearts & Rialynn Kollmann
Where: Ruins of Roalie
When: Sometime in November
What: Cids asks that before the Ruins of Roalie are are examined before they are lost. If there is anything that can be saved so that the history of Roalie will not be lost forever, retrieve it and bring it to the Library in Aqures Ixen. Mikleo is all for preserving history like a nerd he is with his friends~! Derived from This Quest
The Ruins of Roalie!
What an exciting quest to be on. Honestly, he couldn't have been more excited. He figured he'd have to do rather tedious quests to get certain items but this wasn't such a bad quest after all. He was already packed and ready to meet his fellow companions. He hasn't seen Hisui or Rialynn in a while and this quest is a good excuse to catch up with his friends.
He knew that eventually, things will come to an end, so he wants to make the best of it. There are a lot of things weighing on his mind but at a time like this, he can't let it bother him. He knows the quest can be a bit troublesome and finding any sort of artifacts to preserve is close to none. However, if he can somehow crack at the history of Roalie a bit more, he'd love to try.
He wants to preserve whatever knowledge of the region he can get and he wants to ensure that its history will not be lost as well. Mikleo's standing at the edge of the remains of Roalie as he scopes out the region from his stand point. He's armed with his typical Black Mage and White Mage jobs in hopes of assisting his allies with the battle. He's not much of an aggressive fight but he can provide a lot of magical support.

Unlike most heroes, Rialynn rides not on a chocobo, but a good old-fashioned horse. With the cooling of the seasons, the desert heat isn't quite so harsh on her mount. Nonetheless, its tail constantly swishes, beating back flies that are drawn to the animal's sweat.
As she rides, she balances an open bestiary in her hand, with several monsters circled. "Let's see...chimeras and skeletons..." Frowning to herself, she flips to another section and skims down the side with her finger. "Magic Blow...I guess that could be useful...and Aqua Breath?"
She sits back in her saddle, trying to imagine a skill that lets her shoot jets of water out of her mouth. "...That's just weird. I think I'll pass on that one."
Finished muttering to herself, she jerks her head up and looks to the others. "Hey, do you mind if we look for some skeletons to fight? There's a skill I want to get from them for my Blue Mage job."

"I'd like to explore the ruins if that is alright. We can defeat our foes on the way there and within it I assume. There are artifacts and other important historical items that I must retrieve in order to gain my job as well."
He turns to see Hisui and smiles at yet another familiar face. It's been too long since he's seen either of them and they were both very good friends to him.
"Alright, we can make our way there if you two are okay with it."

Her horse shook its mane and flicked its tail, chasing off more flies. Rialynn quieted for a moment, looking down at the reins in her hands. "...Do you think it was hard for Cid to give us this job? Roalie was his home. He was imprisoned when the Empire destroyed it."

He replies with a smile towards Rialynn, "If we don't get to our goals in the ruins, we can venture beyond it. I believe there is much to be learned if we do so."
Mikleo liked learning and being out and about. All of this seemed fine to him.
"I am too. Relics, scrolls and various artifacts and treasures can tell many stories of a kingdom, even if it is wiped from existence."

She pushed her wind-tossed hair away from her face, frowning as she gazed ahead. "I wish I knew his story. It can't be an easy one to tell, but he's the one of the last survivors of this place. Maybe if we do right by him and find something useful, he might tell us more about it. It's not right to let all of those stories and memories just die like that."
As a bard, history was a passion for her, especially if that history was happening right now. The truth of important events should be remembered by the generations to come, so that they could be treasured and learned from by those who sought wisdom and experience.
"Right. So artifacts first, then skeletons if we're lucky enough to explore without being bothered. Seems pretty straightforward to me!" She urged her horse onward to pick up the pace. It would be best if they could reach the city while there was still plenty of daylight, since she didn't relish the idea of spending the night in a place that had to be choked with the ghosts of those who died.

it's not like they were from Quartziaso he just let the two do their own thing.no subject
He replies seriously to Rialynn's words.
"I think that is a fairly straight forward plan. C'mon we should get going before it gets too dark to explore. I'm certain the monsters will be more aggressive in the evening. He's already making the first move towards the ruins and burying himself in whatever he can find.

"Right. Sorry, Hisui. I didn't mean to shut you down or anything," she shook her head before offering a lopsided smile. Blue Mages had to stick together, after all.
As soon as they drew near enough to one of the toppled stone structure where Rialynn had something tangible to which she could hitch her horse, she dismounted and looked around the ruined, sand-soaked remains. No Skeletons or Chimeras yet, as far as she could see, and she knew the Gargoyles wouldn't show up until it grew dark. With winter in full swing, they wouldn't have much daylight available to them.
The place gave her stomach a queasy feeling just looking at it. This place had only been destroyed in the last, what, two years? Three? It was unsettling in its silence. The explosion of just one crystal had done all of this... She tried to feel excited about the journey and the exploration, but up close, she could only picture the suddenness of the destruction. Most of those killed in the blast probably never knew it happened before they'd died.
She drew her sword and gave a faint nod to the others.

He keeps walking in silence as he holds onto his staff. Everything here is giving rather concerning vibes to him. He has yet to catch sight of anything while he traverse the area with his two companions.
"Yes, I suppose that is a set back," Mikleo speaks up finally after all the silence between them, "but you are right. We can certainly manage with what we have."
no subject
"Well..." she glanced at the others. "Should we split up, and holler if we find anything interesting or dangerous? There's a lot of ground to cover, and I don't think we'll be able to find anything at all once it gets dark unless one of you has amazing vision."

Mikleo replied giving Rialynn and Hisui glances before agreeing to the suggestion, "Alright. I'll try to find the information that we need."
Eventually, he will split from the both of them.
"Perhaps setting a fire or a shout? I'm not sure how well it will work in this area. We can always also leave marks."

Now that their plans were set, she departed with a bounce in her step, following the sandy streets and turning down an alleyway to the east. As sad and solemn as the place was, she had to admit, the need to explore burned hot in her blood. Surely there had to be something of interest they could bring back to Cid.

...
Wait, it moved.
...
Oh, shit, it's not a button. It's a glowing red eye from a monster.
"LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!" Hisui yelled out in the most manly of manners, as he bolted out of the ruins.

Mikleo replies sternly as he speaks to the two of them before making his way partially down the path that he chose. Mikleo has his staff and his bow so they will both work out for him in the end. Mikleo carefully looks around to find anything that he can possibly take with him back to Aqures Ixen for Cid.
The water seraph found a few books worth scourging as well and making his way back towards them not too long ago but he heard Hisui shout.
"Wh-What's going on?! HISUI ARE YOU INJURED?!"

Then she heard Hisui yelling manfully.
The bard came tearing around the corner, rapier drawn, and looking oddly...excited? This excitement dulled significantly at the sight of the chimera. Definitely not the monster she wanted, they'd have to take it out fast before she picked up Aqua Breath instead of Magic Blow.
"Are we doing this? Fighting or running?" she asked, seemingly not at all afraid to stand in front of the two others. Hey, she was a Spoony Bard, she could be nearly invincible if she wanted.

He ran up to the two of them finally and looked at them.
"If we run now with all the important items, they will be damaged. We have to take the beast out before we leave. The beast could also be a danger to those who can't defend themselves if we leave it alone."

LEEEEEEEEROY JENKIIIIIIIIIIIINS!
gdi hisui! sdkgds XD
Mikleo finished stuffing the stuff he could into his bag carefully as he ran back from the other two. It seemed like Hisui was doing a good job keeping the monster from attacking him. Mikleo would guard the artifacts and books with his life.
He quickly would start casting buffs on his two allies.

"Use your Black Magic, then," she said quickly to Mikleo before rushing forward, angling to the side to divide the chimera's attention...something impossible to do considering it had more than enough heads to follow all of them. "I've got a song for that!"
With a flourish, she drew her fiddle and bow, laying it to the strings to begin a lively melody. As she played Time's Scar, which would boost the effectiveness of a Black Mage, she layered the song with the lyrics of Battle Scene to give everyone's stats a 15% boost. So far none of them were hurt, and that was good, but she'd keep an eye on their health just the same so Mikleo could focus on his offensive might instead.

He replied with a nod to Rialynn as he made a move forward straight at the monster that Hisui had beaten down into the debris. Mikleo let's himself quickly cast Ultima powered by the boosts that Rialynn provided. He hoped that the spell would at least take out the monster enough so that the other two could kill it.
They had to make it out of here unscathed. He didn't want anyone to get hurt if he could help it.
