002 Umeboshi

Characters: Kyo Sohma & Yuna
Where: Aqures Ixen
When: December 7th, Mid-day
Summary: The curse of the zodiac was always a burden back home, but in Crystallis, this curse didn’t carry over. Kyo will soon realize he’s no longer as unfortunate as he use to be when stumbling upon Yuna. This allows him more bonding time with the kind woman as well.
Warning: Levels of anger, and perhaps mild fluff?

It was December, just about a month after he and Tohru arrive. Kyo still wasn’t totally accepting of what’s been bestowed upon him. At the very least, he had come to terms with most of it. Rather than resist the system, Kyo had become part of it. Crazy things aside, he was actually really excited about having these new powers of his. Being able to execute techniques better than he use to with his monk job. He hadn’t utilized his dark knight as often because of how drained it left him feeling.

Being that it was December meant that Kyo had to get Tohru a Christmas gift. He hadn’t the faintest idea of what to gift her, and pondering over the mystery didn’t help his frustration any. The redhead paced around a nearby outlet trying to think of something suitable for her. She was dumb enough to accept anything from him, but he wanted it to be something more than that. She deserved better.

Without paying attention, his path clashed with another, someone familiar. Kyo had run into Yuna.

It was another trip home from the hospital for Yuna -- and once again, it wasn't work related. She'd woken up from crystalization just earlier that morning, and was still feeling a little fuzzy on all the details. But the fresh air was helping, as it usually did, and so she decided to take a route through the city to get home.

Everything was as she had remembered it, it was a good sign that she hadn't been suspended in stasis for long. These thoughts, among others, were enough to distract her from paying attention to her surroundings, resulting in a collision with another body. "Oof!" she rebounded slightly, losing her balance from the impact, and lost her footing completely sending her barrelling into Kyo.

"Ah..." one of her hands found its way up to touch at her temple, and she used the force of his push to help herself as she pushed back from Kyo, still sitting on the ground. "Ouch," Yuna said simply, though it was followed by a chuckle, as she rubbed the back of her head. "I'm sorry, Kyo, I must not have been paying--" her voice trailed off, as she donned a more serious look.

"Um. Are... you all right?" He was a bit pale, wasn't he? "I didn't hurt you, did I?"

The concern didn't leave her expression, something was definitely wrong here, but... it obviously wasn't something he wanted to discuss. Not yet, anyway. "What? I... oh," his question caught her a little off guard, especially since she was so focused on his well-being, but eventually she lifted herself up from the ground, and dusted her skirt off, thinking of how to word it in a way that left out the most distressing details..

"Well, I -- was away visiting the county of Flence, you see. I thought maybe there was a chance someone there had seen the rogue moogle there."

Yuna retreated slightly into herself at his scrutiny. More than once she'd been told she was a poor liar, and she supposed that was obvious in this case. Reluctantly, she continued.

"And then I... was in the hospital briefly..." she trailed off. Perhaps the slight revelation was enough to appease him. It wasn't lying if you were just... omitting some truth, was it? "But I'm all right now, of course," the mage was quick to add, looking over his way with a nod. "Ah... here, let me help you up," she offered him an open hand.
