A mother must always look after her (feathery) children
Who: Tear Grants and OPEN
When: November 28th
Where: Crystal of Fire > Chocobo Ranch
Summary: After coming back from another military, Tear returns to an Aqures Ixen covered in snow. Naturally, her first concern are the Chocobos, while also taking the chance to start getting used to a Job.
For all the talk and forewarnings the citizens had given since the month began, and having actually seen the first flakes fall, Tear still found her breath taken away when she suddenly appeared in front of the Crystal of Fire thanks to the well-practiced Teleport skill. By now the land had been completely blanketed in white, nothing at all like Esdham had been for the past few days, which meant that once again the girl found herself in a situation in which she was inappropriately prepared for the weather.
Hugging herself in an attempt to stay warm, Tear looked toward her moogle companion in time for him to begin his tirade of worry.
"Mystearica, we need to get you warm and quickly, kupo! You can't get sick just before Starlight, kupo..."
"Starlight?" repeated Tear thoughtfully, resting fingers against her chin. All of what Sein had said had brought to mind several worries, ones she felt like addressing at once. "Sein, switch to another job for me? I think you know the one, we've been discussing it."
"Of course! But you don't mean to go off and work again so soon, kupo...?"
"Working now will save us a great deal later." The girl smiled tiredly, closing her eyes as the switch from Illusionist to Santa Claus took place, changing her appearance so that her clothing better suited to the cold at once. "Please let him know I'm back, I'll be heading to the ranch immediately."
Before the moogle could get another word in she turned her heel to start walking, but anyone wanting to speak with her wouldn't be turned away.
•••
Once at the Chocobo Ranch Tear immediately set herself to ensuring the well-being of the feathered creatures—in particular, the small vulnerable chicks who had become quite attached to her presence since she had helped rescue them on the last trip to the forest. However, with the snow being as thick as it was and quite a number of chicks being so small, Tear found herself quite busy just keeping an eye on them.
"Hold on, you can't come this way or you'll—" And there was yet another ball of feathers sinking into some particularly deep snow with a sharp "kweh!," followed immediately by another of its fellows and soon even more if she wasn't quick to stop them. And to think that raising one Chocobo had been a challenge already...

Re: Ranch
"Hmmm, maybe. They're smart birds so maybe one of them is egging the others on? Or maybe they just see it as a challenge." Reaching into his pouch he pulled out a few leaves of greens and set them down for the little ones to nibble and fight over. It'd keep them distracted for a few minutes.
"Could be something actually buried there after all though. Has it been happening more than just today?"
