SNOWBALL FIGHT START~!

Characters: Yuffie Kisaragi and OPEN!
Where: Aqures Ixen.. EVERYWHERE!
When: 7th of December
Summary: Yuffie is going to try and start a snowball fight that spans the entire city. No one is safe!!!
Warning: Lots of snow~!

Zack was gone, a new collection of heroes gathered and Yuffie was bored. Honestly what could she do? She didn't want to sit and wait for something to happen. Training was always something to do but it was less fun when she was alone. After a startling discovery Yuffie realized that she didn't want to be alone.

She jumped out of her window landing in the soft white fluffy snow below. That was an idea! Yuffie scooped up the snow forming a perfect ball as an evil grin slipped across her lips.

Yes, that was a great idea!

Yuffie collected snow and began making snowballs. After she made 10 decently sized snowballs she took off towards the city looking for targets. It didn't matter where you were, what you were doing or who was around. Yuffie used her ninja skills to silently sneak up and pelt all those in her path. Those who know her might have gotten more than just one snowball sent their way. No one was safe.

"Yes." Yuffie giggled. "Just like this." It might not end well for him but he would at least maybe loosen up and have a little bit more fun.

"I'm glad you can have some fun." She grinned. Throwing another snowball from her handmade collection of projectiles.

Ramza dodged the next attack. It was easier when he had her in his sights and could see the snow coming his way. He returned fire. Though he had not thrown snowballs before, he had decent aim with a stone, and adjusting to the different weight and texture was not overly difficult.

He frowned at Yuffie's words. "It is not that I can't. It is just there are oft more pressing matters at hand." He was down to three balls now, and he threw them up and juggled them as he waited for an opening to throw them, as if to prove his point. He had not learned anything too fancy, but he had mastered the basics of the art.

His throws were easy to dodge for the young ninja, if only because he was an amateur. Even so one hit her and so she clasped her hands to her chest and fell over disappearing into the white fluffy cover of the snow as she 'died'.

"OH! YOU GOT ME!"

Ramza tucked the snow balls back into the crook of his arm. He stood over the 'corpse', one eyebrow raised. "Having defeated you, do I gain your title?" he asked. "Am I now the Great Treasure Prince of Wutai?"

Standing so close over her doubtlessly left him exposed to an attack, but at least that would get her up off of the ground. Ramza did not wish her to catch her death of cold, lying there in the snow like she was.

Oh he did not just say that! Yuffie smiled and hooked her foot around his ankle sending him toppling to the ground as she jumped to her feet.

"You can't be the prince of Wutai unless you marry me." With a grin she dropped a snowball on his face and walked past him. "You gotta do more than that to win."

Ramza found himself staring up at the hazy winter sky. Luckily, the snow had cushioned his fall. He considered tackling Yuffie to avenge himself, but she was likely too agile, and he was wearing armor and did not wish to inadvertently harm her on the off-chance she did not dodge the attack.

He scrunched his eyes shut as the snowball plopped down on his face. He shook the loose snow off. "Are you spreading cheer, or pneumonia?" he teased, sitting up and giving another dog-like shake to free the snow from his hair. "And it is a competition?" What sort of prize might await the most cheerful celebrator of the Starlight Festival?

"Maybe a little bit of both." She smiled skipping back a few more yards, just in case he got any ideas about getting her back for that one.

"We can make it one! If you win I'll give you a present. How's that sound?" Yuffie wasn't going to mention what happened if she won. He would just have to wait and find out if that happened.

He had already brought a present to give Yuffie for the festival celebrations, and he, perhaps naively, assumed that that would be what she demanded if she won. Ramza did not believe he would win against her, not with her agility. The armor he wore protected him from most attacks, but not from snow, and as light as it all was, it still hindered him from moving at top speed.

But this was not life and death. This was spreading holiday cheer among friends.

He would need to re-arm himself if he was to snow battle, though. He stretched one arm behind his head, then the other, silently unclasping his cloak from his shoulders.

"That sounds fair enough," he agreed. And without waiting for a response, he threw the cloak at her, hoping to distract her long enough for him to dive to the ground and form a snowball weapon to throw.

Yuffie had something very specific in mind and what he didn't know was that whether he won or lost the prize would be the same. She grinned happily as he agreed but before she could celebrate he had tossed something at her.

She didn't really expect that and for a moment she lost him. Yuffie didn't wait around to be a target and ducked behind the nearest shelter to gather herself.

"Didn't know you were so sneaky."

Which was a compliment.

Ramza, now without the warmth and protection of his cloak, dove behind a row of neatly trimmed bushes. He quickly packed together some snow to form a makeshift arsenal.

"I have faced many duplicitous foes. I may have learned a few tricks along the way," he shot back at Yuffie. There was a time that he would have been offended at being called sneaky; knights won by virtue of their strength, not by underhanded means. But the world was not so black and white as it had been back then, and now he was proud to have been able to catch a ninja off-guard.

He held a snowball at the ready as he peeked his head over the bushes, trying to get her in his line of sight so he could launch his attack.

Yuffie was already standing there waiting for him and as soon as she saw the bright blonde of his hair she unleashed the snowball from her hand. It sailed through the hair hitting him right in the face.

"score 1 to me!"

She grinned to excited to realize she was leaving herself wide open.

While Yuffie gloated over her shot, Ramza threw two snowballs back at her in return, one from each hand. He ducked again without looking to see if they hit her or not.

Now that she knew where he was, he needed to move. He crouched low, behind the bushes, and started making his way toward a nearby house for better shelter.

The problem with his plan is that Yuffie would never admit to being hit. The other problem to his plan was that throwing from both hands was highly inaccurate.

Yuffie dashed along the route she thought that he might take and then waited with the ball of snow in her palm. She has been practicing her throwing skill and now she could hit a target easily.

When Yuffie appeared in his path, Ramza launched another barrage of snow missiles at her. He could not hope to hit her with a single well-placed throw, so he changed his strategy to one of quantity over quality. He had quickly formed more balls as he had moved along his route, and he threw them in rapid succession.

"AH!"

She jumped back at his barraged of snowballs with one arm covering her face. His method certainly worked and two of his snowballs hit there mark. She cringed and threw the ball that was prepared in her hand.

"2:2 ... cheater." She might be trying to sound upset but she can't get the smile off of her lips. Yuffie scooped up more snow and then threw it at Ramza again though this snowball wasn't so perfect and was a little wobbly as it said through the air.

"You specified no rules to this engagement," Ramza pointed out. "Therefore, I cannot be a cheater." Her return fire did not stay in a ball as she threw it, but rained on him in a cloud of flakes that he could not hope to avoid.

He shook the snow from his face and dove to the side to gather up more snow to rearm.

He probably should have thought of the repercussions of declaring this battle as rules-free, but he was having too much fun to really realize that he had essentially handed Yuffie a carte blanche to attack however she chose.

"No rules. Fine." She could play by this game. "In that case each spec of snow counts as a point."

Yuffie followed him not trying to cover herself from any attack. Her arms scooped up the snow as she ran towards him and flung it up in his face. Though she was moving to fast and ended up running right into Ramza with her hand full of snow greeting him in the face.

She couldn't stop the torrent of giggles that erupted from her as she fell forward.

Ramza caught Yuffie (and a face-full of snow) and toppled backwards into the snow. He wrapped his arms around the girl as he fell, instinctively shielding her with his body.

He might have twisted them around and pinned her to the ground, but he was too afraid of hurting her. This was all just a game, and he did not mind if Yuffie emerged victorious, so long as she was uninjured.

So they landed with Ramza on his back in the snow and Yuffie relatively unscathed atop him.

"It appears I am defeated," he conceded.

She sat on his chest and didn't seem so concerned with moving. "I WIN!" She raised one hand in the air with a wide smile. She wasn't going to get hurt by playing like this and certainly not by Ramza.

Yuffie grinned down at him with a wide smile. "So I get my prize." Not that they had settled on terms yet. "I think I know what I want but not yet.. Also!" The young ninja scoops up some snow and begins to pile it on Ramza. "Why wear your armor inside the city?"

Ramza shuddered as snow found its way onto his neck and inside the aforementioned armor. He lifted his neck out of the snow and propped himself up on his elbows.

"Why wouldn't I? It is safer. Spies could be walking among us, and this armor has helped turn away more than one assassination attempt." That sounded a trifle morbid, truth though it was, so he added. "Plus, it allows me to become accustomed to moving while wearing it. It does not hinder me in battle because I am well used to its weight and feel."

"That might be true but I'm still sitting on top of you." She points down at his chest where she now sat with her legs crossed. "Your just to slow."

Yuffie shouldn't complain but wasn't it better just to be faster and more alert than slower and more protected. She felt like they evened out some.

Ramza's expression went sad for a moment, before he schooled his face back into a more neutral visage. "You are fast, but not faster than a crossbow bolt." There was bitterness in his voice at that.

But no, Yuffie was too young to truly understand. Everyone thought themselves invincible at her age. And here, at least, she essentially was. Those that fell in battle awoke from Crystal Statis.

"Slow or fast, I feel more at ease in my armor," he told her. "I hope one day, there will be no more need for it, but as of yet, there are far too many threats to be ignored."

She let out a sigh and stood looking at the snow around them before glancing back at Ramza. "Man, you're always so serious. One day you should just lighten up."

It was true that Yuffie thought she was invincible but then she has always thought that and it was one of the things that made her and her father fight. She held out a hand to him. "Come on. You're going to catch a cold if you stay down there. You should probably go home and change." Mostly because she knew that she got snow down his armour.

The blond took Yuffie's hand and let her help him to his feet. He knew he was often too serious, but he did not know how to change that.

"You are right. It would not do to fall ill so close to the holiday."

"See ya then. Remember you own me my prize which I will collect at the right time." Her smile widened before disappearing across the roof tops. Really, who walked through streets anymore?
