[Chiaki's been spending comparatively more time in the lab lately than she has playing Triple Triad. That's how you know she's really getting into endgame mode. Sidequests and optional games are starting to fall by the wayside, and now she's really cracking down on her research. Currently, she's got her notes for the new Advanced Job sidequest out in front of her, talking out loud as a face looking somewhat like hers is displayed on a nearby monitor.]

I wonder why some of the Jobs don't have any combinations. You'd think there would be something we could do with Santa Claus or Chocobo Knight. I just hope we can figure out the new ones by the time we have to fight Garland. It's good to have options.

By Chiaki's heels is her new Lab Assistant, K-9. He has been dutifully analyzing any data that he can get his sensors on.

"Analysis of current Advanced Job data shows peculiarities within system. The existence of an Advanced Job is perhaps determined less by combat efficiency, and more by the existence of an archetype for which that combination would occur within.

Example: Despite the 75.095% increased efficiency of long-range attacks when both Archer and Gunner are equipped, there is no Advanced Job for this combination. However, Archer combines with Beastmaster to give the Advanced Job of Sniper, a concept where a long-range shooter needs a partner to assist in making difficult shots.

K-9 marks a pause, and his ears waggle back and forth.

"Or, in the vernacular: once one is Santa Claus, why would one need to be anything else?"

[She shuffles some papers back and forth.]

But what about Chocobo Knight, then? Wouldn't Beastmaster have a lot of synergy with that too?

"A Beastmaster with a Chocobo as their partner in addition to the skills of Chocobo Knight shows a statistically significant combat efficiency increase.

But, Query: What would one call a Beastmaster specializing with a Chocobo? The Advanced Jobs seem to be not merely based on quantitative factors, but unmeasured qualitative ones, as well."

K-9's ears move back and forth and the dots that represent his eyes blink a few times, the signs that the dog is analyzing. He tilts his head up to look at Chiaki better.

"Understand that following line of questioning is of some sensitivity to Captain Harkness.

Archive of video tape retrieved from Heran Capital states that 'Kalki' created the Crystal Knight Advanced Job with certain specifications. Therefore, creation of desired Advanced Job combinations is possible?"

That's what I was hoping for, actually. I want to make a combination of Programmer and Beastmaster. I think I'd probably call it 'Tamer.'

If that were the case. One wonders if the jobs we have created may also be combined with those here.

That would be interesting too, but I wouldn't know. I only made a Custom Job in the Sage's vision, and it's not really something I'd want to do again.

[K'pandolu's found a chair to perch herself on, eyes flicking over to the monitor every so often, and shrugs at that.]

I wonder. But those two seem like they'd be an interesting combination, themselves.

I wonder if it would be that different. Santa's sleigh is already pulled by a team of chocobos.

Oh- I thought that might be why they would work well together. But perhaps they need to be different enough to add something to each other…? Maybe they'd work with another job that supports others.

Yeah, it would work better with one of the magic support Jobs, probably.

Time Mage, perhaps? I'd suggest Bard, but- that would likely be difficult while mounted.

What do you suppose it might look like/

Time Mage could work. I mean, how else could Santa travel across the entire world in a single night?

Bard would be interesting too. Maybe the Advanced Job would be called Caroler.

Oh… I'd not thought about it so much. I think I assumed it must be some manner of teleportation magic… But that sounds reasonable.

I see, I see! Specialising in the Starlight songs…? I wonder what kind of attire that would have.

[When not caught up in Santa Stuff or Chocobo work, Cloud's actually been spending time at the lab himself. He's mostly been doing bodyguard work for the Shadow encounters, but he's been happy to help out in whatever way he's able.

Handing out some sandwiches to those hard at work he peers over Chiaki's shoulder to see what she's looking at while handing her some lunch. He's not going to let her skip any meals if he can help it. Having been there with her own Shadow he recognizes the face and gives it a nod.]

Maybe it has something to do with the Heroes who use it? I mean, don't we have most of these jobs because some Hero in a past cycle had them?

[Implying that they also gave their lives. This does not make him feel good about the implications surrounding the Santa Job and he gets off that train of thought with a diving roll out the window.]
