I'll Face Myself - Duster

It's late. Not dark enough for it to be considered night, for the Moogles working in the lab to wish for warm blankets and hot Kupo Cocoa, but dark enough that the hallways are lit by artificial light. The blues of the night have always comforted Duster. They remind him of midnight walks, of the dark but persistent ocean, of cool castle corridors. Even the falling now brings its own particular type of light.

But tonight is not the night for calm reflection. Duster has an important job, one that the fate of Crystallis depended on.

Following him is Tamekichi, wearing the sunglasses that never come off no matter the time of day. The Moogle is carrying a brown cardboard box over his head.

"I'm ready," he said to himself, facing the door leading to the Black Crystal laboratory room.

"Thank you kindly!" Donnel chirped, oblivious to the disdain thrown his way. "I'll go put it on in the next room over. Be back in two shakes of a Chocobo's tail!"

Good, he was gone. Tamekichi returned to his usual activities like leaning against the wall and perfecting his cool waiting pose.

True to his word, Donnel came back very quickly, now wearing the shirt. He whistled as he walked on over.

"Fits like a glove, sure does."

[mindofathief]

"Yeah, yeah, red sure looks good with bronze or whatever." The combination of bright colors and the dull metal of the pot was a fashion disaster, but it shouldn't have been a surprise that Duster would be friends with such people.

Maybe Donnel wasn't the brightest out of all the Shepherds, but even he could pick up a tone change. He tilted his head. "...Somethin' the matter?"

"Nothing." It was a mixed blessing. Donnel understood that his appearance needed work, but now he wouldn't leave Tamekichi alone. Possibly. "I'm busy, go bother Duster somewhere else."

"Iff'n you're best, maybe I could help out." he smiled, always eager to lend a helping hnd. "I'm sure Duster would want his pal to be happy!"

[mindofathief]

Tamekchi's eye twitched, though that went unnoticed behind the sunglasses.

"...Yeah, hand out these shirts for me, I'll go grab some coffee, kupo." It also freed him of his work until Donnel had to go inside.

Donnel even saluted, more than happy to be of use to somebody. "Sure thing! You got get refreshed, I'll pass these along. Never can have too many clothes, you ask me."

With that, Tamekichi ducked out of the hallway and searched for a coffee machine that was furthest away from that building wing. He'd rather not head home alone and abandon Duster, but he also had no incentive to go back soon.

He found a comfy chair and took his time warming himself up, figuring that a ten minute break was enough time for Duster and the others to head inside.
