Who: Johnny D'Amico, Reno, Duster, Santa
What: Valentine's shenanigans
When: February 14
Where: A few different locations
Warnings: n/a
[Johnny found a note left for him on the 13th, telling him to meet right outside the 14th District the next night. Figuring this was some sort of Valentine's Day plan from Reno, Johnny kept his mouth shut, and followed the instructions. While impending world destruction wasn't putting him in the most romantic of moods, he figured this was probably the last chance the couple could have for a nice night out. Time to forget the Calamity for one night and relax.
Dressed in the nicest suit he could manage to scrape together, Johnny arrived at the location, and was immediately confused by the spectacle in front of him. A carriage, all of these moogles... such gallantry seemed out of character for Reno, and something gathering this much attention to them wouldn't be Johnny's bag either. The moogles sing the praises of the perfect couple they're setting up, and the lovely night of romance they've set up for the two of them that lies ahead. Before he could even protest, half a dozen moogles push him towards the carriage and push him inside. Just as he's about to ask Reno what the big idea was, he sees that the other person inside wasn't Reno at all, but... Duster. Duster, who's probably just as confused and surprised as Johnny is. Johnny sticks his head out of the window to tell the moogles that there has to be some sort of mistake, but a moogle presents him with a computer print-out of their Valentine Love Matchmaker™ did the math and predicted the two of them together at 99%. Johnny was nothing short of incredulous.]
Last year ya put the two of us at 1%! Not that it matters as I'm already seein' someone. So's he, ya know!
[Too late. The carriage is already on the move to whatever its destination might be. Johnny sank back into his seat, looking at Duster and feeling a little weird about this whole situation.]
... Moogles sure can be assholes, huh.

Johnny & Duster

He folds his hands and does his best impression of a small bird trying to look even smaller.]
I should've brought something to read.

[Johnny settled back down into the seat, no less annoyed. Seeing Duster feeling awkward, he's got to comment, though somewhat hypocritically.]
C'mon, man, forget it. We'll get to wherever we're goin' and just leave. I'm wondering what they told Reno 'n Santa, and whether or not they're on their way somewhere too.
no subject
[He bends forward as if he was about to do a facepalm, but his hands remain on his lap.]
We need to find him before he does anything drastic.
no subject
[C'mon, even Johnny wouldn't do that.]
If you wanna jump out of a moving carriage, by all means. We can just wait til it gets to wherever we're goin', then just go off to find them.
[Johnny's quiet for a moment, trying to forget about all the plans this was ruining. He looked Duster up and down.]
Uh, guess you guys had somethin' big planned, huh.
no subject
...No. [beat] Maybe.
He's kind of a jealous guy, so if he figures out I'm with you, uh...you know.
[A nervous look at the Moogle driving the carriage.]
no subject
[SANTA. Even when you're not here, you manage to tick Johnny off.]
Y'know, if anyone should take offense to that sorta thing anyway, it should be you. Don't he trust you?
no subject
[...]
I really only see you as a friend.
no subject
No offense, man, but he really needs to learn to chill. He ain't got anything to worry about with the two of us. I don't need to tell ya how to live yer life, but you shouldn't let him push ya around like that.
no subject
I'd be more worried what he'd do to you.
no subject
All of these thoughts were pretty hypocritical for a guy like Johnny, who had his own boatload of issues that he dragged around.]
Y'don't gotta worry about me, man. I can take care of myself. Though I gotta say, havin' anyone be jealous of me, of all people, is a new thing.
[He shook his head in disbelief. It was really hard for him to wrap his brain around that idea.]
no subject
[Would Duster? He doesn't want to go down that road of thought. He already slept with one of his bandmates before, but that doesn't mean he'll sleep with another musician.]
...Any idea how we're going to deal with him?
no subject
Tell him to get over it. This all ain't our fault. If he's really gonna blow a gasket over it...
[He shrugs.]
I'm sure we all had our own plans. Let's not let this stupid little adventure ruin the whole night, right?
no subject
[He sighs and looks down. How long is this carriage ride going to last? Apart from the short uncomfortable minutes, it was actually pretty boring (compared to the epic rescue mission their boyfriends were on).]
no subject
Hey, so... are their gonna be other Heroes on dates there?
Oh yes, kupo, it's the hottest spot in town! But don't worry, we've made sure everyone gets enough space for a lovely dinner together.
[Johnny nods and looks to Duster, looking satisfied.]
See? We're gonna get there and just switch tables. This whole thing's annoying as hell, but it should work out.
no subject
...Can we wait out here for them?
Kupo! You'll freeze! [The Moogle looks personally offended, though it's all an act seeing that he immediately pushes Duster's legs in the direction of the restaurant. He doesn't budge.]
Get inside! We made a reservation!
Santa & Reno
I'm not gettin' in the damn carriage 'til you tell me where Duster is! Who'd you put him with?
[He looks over at Reno, and gets a sinking feeling. It better not be who he thinks it is.]
Can you believe this bullshit?
no subject
[Except the horses and carriage weren't any kind of metaphor at all, and Johnny wasn't even here. Reno was not pleased.]
No... I can't.
[He narrowed his eyes and suggested, with dangerous emphasis to the moogles,]
It must be a mistake. And it will be fixed.
no subject
He turns to one of the moogles and glares him down.]
Did you send Duster off with Johnny?
[The moogle in question gulps, and looks back and forth between the two pissed-off Heroes.]
Umm...yes, kupo. The Matchmaker said they were...[He trails off as he sees Santa make a lunge to grab him by the throat. He flits upward, out of reach.]
Anyways, they already left, kupo! You won't catch up to them if you don't ride in the carriage. Get in, and if you don't hit it off like the Matchmaker says, you'll find them once you get to your romantic destination, kupo!
[Santa growls, but it doesn't seem like there's anything else to do. The longer they hang around arguing, the longer his boyfriend is stuck alone with Johnny.]
Fuck it, if we want this fixed, we gotta do it ourselves. Just get in the carriage. [He opens the door and motion for Reno to follow.]
no subject
He waited for Santa to get in first then followed. He wasn't about to let Santa hold the door for him out of some kind of weird chivalry, not that he thought Santa would do it anyway.
"Drive fast."
no subject
He sighs and tilts his head back to stare at the ceiling of the carriage.]
Ok, we both agree this is bullshit. But while I gotcha- that club of yours...Duster's already planning on playin' there, right? And he and Johnny are always talked about gettin' a group together...
[He pauses. It's almost painful to think about purposefully encouraging impressionable Duster into long practice hours with the rock star demon...but it's something Duster's always wanted.]
Might as well see what you think about makin' it a thing. I can put in the time and money to promote 'em, if you got a venue. The Heroes of Light are pretty famous, so I bet people would wanna come to see the two of them perform together.
inside the restaurant...
Johnny looks a little more enthused now that he sees Reno got here without incident, but this was still a little awkward.]
Sooooo.
Valentine's day, huh.
no subject
Hey. [He's trying not to let his boyfriend catch on that he was close to punching a moogle back at the carriages. Feigned nonchalance will have to do.]
You think these moogles are dumb, or are they takin' bets on how far they can push us before somebody snaps?
[He takes the seat beside Duster and reaches out a hand to take Duster's hand. They're allowed to be affectionate on Valentine's Day. It's not because he's jealous or anything.]
