The sticky, sweltering air made sleep-blurred vision even fuzzier as eyes began to open. Oppressive heat bore down on the four sprawled out on the rocky mountain ledge. Aoi groaned.
“Shit, what happened?” he croaked. His throat felt parched. Aqures Ixen was never this hot or gross. Hadn’t he teleported there…?
He pushed himself up, reaching to scratch his head, and felt…way more there than there was supposed to be. WHAT. THE. HELL.
“Akane?” he jerked his head around, spotting the heroes lying nearby, one familiar and two others less so. "You guys, wake up!"

Kenshin cast a quick look over his shoulder, reading the terrain as quickly as he could. The ridge on which they were standing was not smoothly paved, but a short run away, there was a slope winding downward. Though it was lined by jagged, sulfurous rock, it looked to provide a path by which they might descend the mountain, and it was far too narrow for a beast as broad and ponderous as the Calamity Dragon to give chase.
He looked back to Aang, Aoi, and Akane, and nodded tersely, sheathing his sakabatō. "Quickly, to the pass!" he said, having to shout the words over the blinded dragon's aggravated roar. "We must find the others if we can - before any creatures like this find them as well!"

"Go, I'll meet you at the bottom!" It wasn't the most bad-ass exit line ever, but it would have to do. Besides, he didn't want the others to stick around and see the wreck the static electricity was making of his now-long hair. No wonder overlords usually wore those dark hoods.
