There is nothing but shock, when whatever attack Kalki used is powerful enough to stop even Jack in time. It wasn't enough. It's all Jack can think before attack after attack launches into them, and Jack falls into the too-familiar darkness.

It's different this time. Jack has spoken before about something moving in the darkness, something else there in the nothingness after death, but it is no longer distant this time. It's here, and it doesn't want to let Jack go again.

But it happens again anyway. Those words spoken by Rose Tyler are more powerful, even in this world. I Bring Life, and Jack is ripped back into existence with a gasp. It is disorienting, looking just like the place he left, like the two worlds are only so far apart anymore. Yet, he starts to get back up. There's still a job left to do. His health is very low for now, but it looks as if he's healing quickly on his own.
