Before replies--furious or relieved or something else in-between--can bombard him, Minato shakes his head with a preemptive elaboration. "I don't know where they are, or if they're completely alright... but I want to believe it. They're not dead. We have to keep going."

Not to say he has complete confidence in Carbuncle having succeeded, but these were words his companions needed to here. If it turns out a lie, he'll take full responsibility for it, if they even come out of this in one piece. It'll take a bit of a breather before Minato can once again summon, he falls back to healing, Curaga being cast on Duster and Mary.
