Summary: A story is over, many others are about to begin. Friends may reunite and rejoice together, friends may part and say farewell to each over forever. But even if you should leave your friends behind, your voice shall never forget their melodies.


Following the battle against Kalki, the sacrifice of old friends and the second destruction of Aqures Tosf, Palitutu cast all Heroes of Light into the Rift, each of them finding themselves in an all too familiar void. And yet... Soon the void vanished, as it had once before. This time it was all too clear none of this had been a dream. Upon coming to their senses, the Heroes of Light will find themselves on the outskirts of Aqures Ixen. Music and laughter can be heard coming from the city.

Is there a celebration in the city? Shouldn't it be filled with corrupted Heroes of Light and on the brink of destruction? Before they can do anything about these questions, the Heroes of Light are submerged by a wave of fluffy white balls of fur and fluff- the Moogles who helped them for all these years and are now overjoyed to see they are safe and sound. As they once did before, the Moogles will answer all of their questions, but also drag them into the city. A celebration is indeed taking place and why, it appears they are the reason the celebration is happening. The music is joyous, the people are happy and all appears to be for the best.

Upon reaching the third district, they will see familiar faces. Cid, Wedge, Biggs, Parajapati, Mograma, O'aka and many other friends they made along the way. They will all clap for them before congratulating them and taking part in the festivities. There are more familiar faces, however. Where once stood the Crystal of Fire is now a statue depicting four Heroes of Light: Sephiroth, Minato, Tears and Sayaka, all four of them brandishing their crystal and weapons in a heroic posture.

Whilst many might be sad and mourn them, perhaps this is also an occasion to celebrate what they were in life and carry the memory of their deeds into your own life. Melodies of life, come circle round and grow deep in our hearts, as long as we remember.

Nah, nothin', I... [A drink is exactly what he needs right now. He tries to say something, but he realizes he doesn't even know what he wants to say, and shrugs.]

Can ya believe it's all over? Just like that?

[The Barkeep shuffles onto the empty spot on the wall beside Sparks and lifts the mug to his lips.]

Not sure if the realization's dawned on me yet. Guess it'll take a few more beers to bring me down from my high.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad 'n all. It's just... weird. Got too used to the world bein' ready to end.

[He shifts in place a bit.]

I mean, that's not to say I didn't think we weren't gonna win or anythin'. Of course we were.

[Is he being sarcastic? Is he being encouraging? It is a mystery.]

You did pretty well, considerin' you ain't Marshal of this planet. Took out to adventurin' while I was stayin' home attendin' to the needs to the other folks. I had a moment where I sorta gave up on travelin' after fightin' off Jenni, but you? You kept goin'. [Sips his beer.] Far as we know, this ain't the end of Crystallis' troubles. Never ends on Mars, likely will never end here. They'll get their work cut out for them in due time.

...Just nothin' like the end of the world.

Trouble's in every place, Barkeep. You know that as good as anyone.

[He takes a drinking, quiet again for a moment, when he awkwardly clears his throat before bringing up another subject.]

Yeah, about those problems they got here. I think I might stick around for just a little bit to get 'em all squared away here. Y'know. The police department here's gonna need a lot of new organization. And I already know what I'm doing there. So I figure that uh, I should help out. Just fer a bit.

You sure you're just gonna stay here for "a little bit"? Marshal, I know that you don't give up until the jobs all done, but you can't fix up everythin' on this planet.

[If the Barkeep did have the Force Galactic, he would stay behind to fix everything, but let's never address his hypocrisy.]

What's the situation with the military now that, you know, the cities ain't the same and the queen is gone?

Yeah, I mean, we only got a month 'r so until we have to decide, right? I can totally get everything together in a month. Totally.

[Right? Sure! Only a month!]

Oh, well, the military decisions can be left up to Sephiroth and aw dangit. [He realized what he said as he said it, and he looks sad for a moment trying to cover it with taking a drink.]

We'll, uh, have to work on that one.

[Yeah Sephiroth is kind of busy being dead and part of the universe or something.]

There's such a thing as delegation, Sparks. Use it. We got experts on the politics of Crystallis that know how to keep some kinds of trouble out of this place, y'hear? Mars can't afford losin' their only marshal.

[Stupid Sephiroth. How dare he.]

Yeah yeah yeah. I hear ya.

[Mars's only marshal. That was true. But that brings a question to mind.]

... Y'think someone else's been doin' it in my absence? Or will it be a thing like we get back and it's like we never left?

Well...you got Red and Croach to look after it. [Red is kind of becoming Mars' next marshal if Sparks will end up retiring for a quiet life with Ginny.] Either way, everyone's gonna be happy we're back. Or we'll be happy to see them while they get all confused as to why we're havin' a good time, but the truth is that we learned to appreciate them and we come back as better people.

Like one of those kids' stories 'bout that girl and the space tornado.
