A Grand Opening!

Summary: It's the grand opening for Henry's Occult Store!
Warnings: None.

One the way towards the observatories, one of the buildings has suddenly become decked out in purple and black bunting. A cardboard sign says, inside a ring of eyes, says "Occult Store - GRAND OPENING". Insides a few shelves are lined with small bottles filled with liquids in various colors of black, red, and purple; a few small, unlabeled pouches; and some non-descipt dolls. A small table is set up in the middle of the room, where Henry sits behind a small pile of cupcakes. When you enter he will cheerfully say "Hi! Have a cupcake! I've cursed them with friendship, nyahaha!"

Sephiroth cast a quick glance around for the mentioned moogle and then leveled his glinting gaze at Henry once more. Kupocake day? Spencer hadn't mentioned it and he was busy running an errand so it wasn't as if he could ask him right then and there. Then again, aside from the occasional kupo nut or one of Angeal's cookies, Spencer wasn't much for too many sweet treats. Which suited Sephiroth just fine.

"They're cursed too, apparently." His tone was flat, repeating what Henry had advertised only a moment ago with just a touch of suspicion in there. "Right?"

Henry's moogle is nowhere to be seen. Just Henry and a mostly empty shop.

"Yep! With friendship! And maybe raisins. Az likes putting weird stuff like that in his baked goods. None of these are in little bags so they should be way easier to eat."

Maybe because it was empty, but Sephiroth can't help but feel a little creeped out by all the weird vials and non-descript packages on the shelves all around. It felt bare, almost, but wasn't.

Raisins. In little bags? His frown dropped a few levels deeper as he regarded Henry. This particular Hero did always managed to perplex him.

"I'll pass but, thank you for the offer nonetheless." He took an opportunity then to cast a long, drawn-out glance around again.

"So, what exactly are you going to be selling here?"

Henry beams when asked.

"Occult things. Love potions, sleep potions, zombie potions, fortunes. Things people need! Let magic work for them."

Stupid things. Sephiroth thought instantly but didn't say anything.

"Magic is different here than from any other World, I've found. Are these tested? Do they work?"

[holycrows]

"Uh, yeah. Totally. As long as you use them in the correct way."

Henry coughs before slightly changing the subject.

"Not everything is magic, some are just brewed. Like a tea that makes you sleepy."

He didn't believe, but at least Henry's logic is sound so Sephiroth doesn't push him any further.

So it were herbal-type remedies as well, then. Just as he thought. Such trinkets, in his experience were more placebos than anything that really worked. Just further thinking himself out of ever needing anything from this shop.

Teas that could help him sleep though? It's true that some nights it does take a long time for him to nod off. He didn't have a fondness for tea much, but it was a hot drink and even he can't deny they were comforting during this time of year.

"Oh? With what side-effects though? I'd hate to wake up groggy the next morning."

[holycrows]

"It usually depends on what plants you use. If I were back home I could tell you more definitively, but here it may be a few weeks before I really know for sure! You should probably avoid spicy food before taking it."

[shinrasfinest]

"Hm." He really isn't one for spicy food, at least not in excess. A certain amount of heat to some foods can help to keep ones metabolism in check though.

"Well at least that's something to take into consideration."

And so, Sephiroth makes a mental note to find out a little more about the properties of some plants before daring to give any of these experimental sleep-teas a try. He very much wants to know what exactly he's putting in his body before doing so.

"Always is, with strange medicine! One time I tried a tea my freind Vasto gave me when we were marching, said it would make it so I didn't have to sleep. Nyahaha, boy was that true! I couldn't sleep, but that was both the worst and slowest march ever."

"I imagine the come down from such a substance would hit pretty hard."

He kept his tone as flat, but also as open as possible. All remedies, medicinal or of the more obscure variety, came with an inevitable peak and drop or gradual fall depending on their nature and quite often how dramatic the effect produced in the first place.

"If anything it was quite a relief to be able to eat again."

[shinrasfinest]

"Hm. Then it is certainly something to bear in mind."

With a slow nod he turns with a signature swish of silver hair in his wake and proceeds to leave the premises. On the contrary from attracting a potential new customer, Sephiroth will have to give this new shop a great deal of careful thought before considering to buy any of the wares available.
